Two criteria for support at Shakti Samuha :
1. Under 18 years age
2. Victim of sexual abuse or sexual exploitation / at imminent risk
Girls who fit these criteria can be immediately taken into the protection of the emergency
shelter.
To date not one girl has been turned away.
Services Protection/Emergency Shelter Counseling and legal support Social skills, life skills and
awareness Family Reintegration Training, employment and
independent living support Referrals to long-term
residential support (as a last resort when family or independent reintegration not possible)
Snapshot of Achievements Supported > 500 trafficking survivors Trafficking prevention activities have reached est. 10,000
women and girls Set up the 1st ever shelter home run by- and for trafficking
survivors in South Asia (currently operate 3 shelters) President Shakti Samuha, Ms. Chari Maya Tamang was
presented 'Hero acting to end modern day slavery award' (US State Dept'11)
