Final Placements SJMSOM, IIT Bombay Batch of 2010-12

SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, witnessed yet another season of successful placements with the batch of 2012 securing excellent jobs in some of the top global organisations. The school achieved new heights by setting records in terms of the number of students being placed and total number of offers received. The number of participating companies has increased by 15% as compared to last year. This ensured that many students secured multiple offers despite the 25% increase in batch size.

There was a 38% increase in the number of PPIs/PPOs as compared to last year. Students were suitably rewarded for their exceptional performance during summer internships with pre-placement offers. Around one-third of the batch got PPI/PPOs from companies like JPMC, HSBC, Citibank, Deloitte, Global eProcure, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson and Johnson, Kraft Cadbury, Reckitt Benckiser, Colgate Palmolive and L’Oreal to name a few.

The sector wise split for the recruiters for the Final placements is as shown below:

Consumer Goods Consumer goods companies re-emphasised their faith in SJMSOM by offering a plethora of roles. Along with the regular top recruiters like P&G, Kraft Cadbury, Johnson & Johnson, Asian Paints, Colgate-Palmolive, Marico, Heinz, Godrej & Boyce etc., this year saw Nestle, Britannia, Titan and Pidilite recruiting for the first time. The profiles offered by these companies were in Marketing, Sales, Corporate finance, Operations & SCM and IT.

Banking and Financial Services (BFSI) BFSI emerged as the most preferred sector with 27% of the students opting for it. The participating firms this year include JP Morgan, Bloomberg, ICICI Bank, Citibank, Nomura, Yes bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI, CRISIL, IDBI, IL&FS etc.

Profiles were offered in the domains of Structured Finance, Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Infrastructure Advisory, Treasury, Investment Banking, Equity Research, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk Management etc. Yes Bank emerged as the largest recruiter in this domain.

Consulting The number of consulting profiles offered continued to increase with many new firms participating in the placement process this year. Recruiters like KPMG, Ernst & Young, ZS Associates, IBM Consulting, Deloitte, Capgemini Consulting, Accenture Business Consulting, Cognizant, Vector Consulting and Global eProcure took part in the process and students were offered some of the most coveted profiles in the domain.

21% of the students opted for consulting this year. Profiles were offered in the domains of Strategy Consulting, Business Consulting, Supply Chain Consulting and IT Consulting.

Technology/IT SJMSOM yet again proved to be one of the most favoured destinations for technology companies. Technology majors such as Amazon, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Headstrong, Capgemini, Yash Technologies, HP, Infosys and Wipro participated in the process this year. The profiles which were offered by these companies include Product Management, Process Consulting, Technology Marketing and Project Management.

Manufacturing and Conglomerates Conglomerates like Reliance, L&T, Aditya Birla Group and Essel (Zee) Group offered some of the most sought after profiles. Raymond, another first time recruiter, offered its General Management profile. Ramky group was another notable conglomerate which offered multiple roles in different sectors including infrastructure, environment and green energy.

Manufacturing companies like Tata Motors, Cummins and Ford offered profiles in Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and Corporate Finance.

International Placements Jumbo Electronics and Continental Corporation offered international profiles in Corporate Finance, Marketing and Systems.

Faculty Placement Co-ordinator’s Message

We successfully completed the final recruitment process for the batch of 2010-12 with many new recruiters on campus.

SJMSOM is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing business schools in India. With a stringent admissions process and an innovative pedagogy, we continue to nurture the future business leaders of India. The industry applauds the exceptional performance of our students and that is evident from the number of PPOs/PPIs secured by the batch of 2010-12.

Although we have a very strong background in Technology and Operations, Finance and Consulting continue to grow rapidly in terms of the profiles offered.

Team SJMSOM won the CFA Institute Research Challenge-Finals, West Zone, India.

Team SJMSOM won the Reckitt Benckiser - All India supply chain case study competition (Impact of GST on supply Chain).A student was offered a PPO.

Team SJMSOM presented a research paper at an International conference in Portland, United States of America (PICMET'11).

A student of SJMSOM was the proud recipient of the prestigious 'Dewang Mehta Award for Best Student in Management' for the year 2011, instituted by Onward Foundation.
