    ASEAN Graduate Scholarship

    Who is eligible?

    This scholarship is open to nationals of member countries of ASEAN* (except Singapore) to pursue a designated

    full-time Masters degree by coursework and dissertation at NTU.

    * ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations consists of Brunei Darrussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia,

    Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

    Eligibility criteria

    Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply

    Excellent academic record

    A very good command of the English language

    At least 2 years of working experience

    An acceptable score in the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for applicants of the MBA programme

    You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award

    Bond

    There is no bond attached to the scholarship. No deferment of scholarship awarded will be allowed. Awards that

    are not taken up will be given to other qualified candidates.

    Coverage

    Each scholarship is tenable for a period of around 6 months only (NTU portion) for Master of Management in

    Hospitality, 1 year only for M.Sc. and M.Mass Communication programmes and 4 trimesters ( 16 months) only for the MBA programme.

    Each scholarship shall cover the following:

    Monthly stipend of S$1,350.00

    Book allowance of S$500.00

    Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses

    Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission (for MBA candidates only) undertaken within the tenable period of the scholarship

    Cost of travel from home country to Singapore on award of the scholarship

    Cost of travel from Singapore to home country on successful completion of the Masters degree within the tenable period of the scholarship

    ASEAN Scholarships

    The ASEAN Scholarships aim to provide opportunities to the young people of ASEAN to develop their potential

    and equip them with skills that will enable them to confidently step into the new millennium.

    The ASEAN Scholarships lead to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education

    Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) (or equivalent) certificates. Outstanding students who perform well in the GCE

    A-Level (or equivalent) Examination may apply for the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the

    National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University or

    Singapore University of Technology and Design.

    Eligibility

    Students who are ASEAN nationals (except Singaporeans) can apply for the scholarships. The eligibility criteria

    for the scholarships are given at the respective pages for each country in the website.

    ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship

    The ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship is available to citizens or permanent residents from ASEAN countries

    pursuing full-time undergraduate studies at the Singapore Management University.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Full-time SMU first year undergraduate student

    Citizens or permanent residents from ASEAN countries* (excluding Singapore citizens)

    Outstanding academic results and SAT I score

    Good leadership and communications skills

    Good record of CCA and/or community service involvement

    Good character records

    *ASEAN countries comprise Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore,

    Thailand and Vietnam.

    Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship Award

    The Scholarship covers tuition fees and an annual living allowance of $5,800

    The Scholarship is tenable for the duration of the scholars studies (up to four years), subject to outstanding academic performance.

    No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.

    Tuition Grant Scheme

    Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

    Under the TGS, foreign scholars will be obligated to work in Singapore for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.

    A*STAR India Youth Scholarship

    The A*STAR India Youth Scholarship is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge

    General Certificate of Education Advanced (GCE A) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

    The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is

    renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

    Outstanding A*STAR India Youth Scholars may be further identified for the A*STAR Young Researchers

    Attachment Programme.

    Eligibility

    Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:

    * Nationals of India

    * Born between 1994 and 1996

    * Completed Standard 8 in the Year 2010

    * Possess outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 80% with English as first language in the

    Standard 7 and 8 school examinations

    * Possess a high level of oral and written competency in English

    Terms and Conditions

    * Allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel accommodation

    * Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only)

    * Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of course

    * Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)

    * Waiver of GCE O and A Level examination fees (once only, if applicable)

    * Subsidized medical benefits and accident insurance cover

    * There is no bond attached to the scholarship

    There are 2 modes of application online or hardcopy application. Each applicant should submit only ONE

    application. Please do not submit a hardcopy application if you have chosen to apply online and vice versa.

    Bangkok Bank Scholarship

    The Bangkok Bank Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduates of Thai nationality pursuing any degree

    programme at Singapore Management University. The Scholarship is aimed at motivating students to achieve

    greater heights of excellence.

    One scholarship will be awarded annually commencing Academic Year 2012-13 over a five-year period. Each

    scholarship is tenable for up to four years of the Scholar's studies, subject to outstanding academic performance.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Full time first year undergraduates from Thailand and of Thai nationality enrolled in any degree programme

    Good academic results

    Demonstrated leadership skills and character

    Active co-curricular activities and community service involvement

    Special consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated financial need

    Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship Award

    The Scholarship has an average value of $25,000 per annum.

    The Scholarship is tenable for up to four years of studies, subject to achieving continued good academic results and complying with other terms and conditions of award.

    The Scholarship will offer financial support towards annual tuition fees and/or living and study-related expenses.

    Successful recipients may be granted internship and/or career opportunities with Bangkok Bank and/or its designated companies.

    The Scholars must take up Tuition Fee Grant from Singapore Government to enjoy subsidised fees.

    Tuition Grant Scheme

    Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

    Under the TGS, non-Singaporean scholars will be obligated to work in Singapore for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.

    Chio Lim Stone Forest Financial Scholarship

    Sponsored by RSM Chio Lim LLP, the Scholarship is available to third year Bachelor of Accountancy

    undergraduates studying full-time at the Singapore Management University.

    One scholarship will be awarded annually commencing Academic Year 2010-11 over a period of 5 years. The

    scholarship is tenable for one year, subject to good academic performance and the students financial circumstances.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Full-time third year BAcc undergraduates of any nationality

    Good academic results

    Good leadership and communications skills

    Good record of CCA and/or community service involvement

    Good character records

    Possess attributes of perseverance and passion

    Preference will be given to financially needy students

    Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship Award

    The Scholarship, valued at $5,000, is tenable for one year only.

    The scholar is required to serve a minimum of 10 weeks' internship with Chio Lim Stone Forest.

    The scholar may be considered for employment with Chio Lim Stone Forest upon graduation.

    No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.

    Tuition Grant Scheme

    Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

    Under the TGS, non-Singaporean scholars will be obligated to work in Singapore for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.

    Claire Chiang Scholarship

    The Claire Chiang Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduates in the School of Economics at the

    Singapore Management University. The objective of the Scholarship is to motivate and spur the successful

    candidate to achieve greater heights of academic excellence. One Scholarship is awarded annually and is tenable

    for one year.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates for the scholarship are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria:

    Full-time BSc(Econs) undergraduates

    Outstanding academic results (with minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4)

    Strong leadership potential

    Active involvement in community service

    Demonstrated financial needs

    Benefits and Terms of the Scholarship

    The Scholarship, valued at $8,000, is tenable for one year.

    The Scholar must agree to present a relevant topic to a youth audience, in a neighbourhood school of the Donor's choosing.

    The Scholar must agree to participate for one day in an event named by the Donor to better understand Corporate Social Responsibility.

    No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.

    Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

    This Scholarship is made possible by:

    The Claire Chiang Scholarship, as well as the Claire Chiang Excellence Award, was initiated by Ms Claire Chiang,

    a social activist, entrepreneur and author to encourage students to contribute back to the social service sector. Ms

    Chiang is the founder and executive director of the Banyan Tree Gallery which sources furnishings from

    indigenous artists.

    Design Singapore Local Scholarship

    Design Singapore Local Scholarship is available for students who pursue programmes in Design Communication,

    Interior Design, Fashion, Product Design and Fine Arts. Scholars will be designated as Design Singapore

    Associates upon the acceptance of the Scholarship. As Design Singapore Associates, scholars will be required to

    contribute to projects undertaken by Design Singapore Council, and/or contribute to their field of practice with an

    organization in the design industry. The Associateship will expire one year after the Scholar graduates. There is no

    service commitment attached to the Local Scholarship.

    Grant quantum: Up to S$10,000 per annum subject to a maximum of S$20,000

    DFS-SMU Accountancy Scholarship

    The DFS-SMU Accountancy Scholarship, established by DFS Venture Singapore (Pte) Limited, is aimed at

    encouraging full-time undergraduates in the Bachelor of Accountancy programme to strive for and achieve

    academic and professional excellence, and to pursue careers at the intersection of accountancy and business. Up to

    two scholarships will be awarded annually, each tenable for one year.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for this Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    Full-time undergraduate of any nationality pursuing the Bachelor of Accountancy programme

    Proceeding to his/her second, third or fourth year of study

    Outstanding academic results (cumulative GPA of 3.6 and above)

    Demonstrate leadership potential, co-curricular activity involvement and community service commitment

    Special consideration will be given to students with financial need

    Shortlisted applicants will be required to make a five-minute oral presentation to the selection panel on a topic

    recommended by the Donor.

    Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship

    Each scholarship, valued at $10,000, is tenable for one year of study.

    The Scholarship will offer financial support towards the scholar's annual tuition and/or other study-related expenses.

    The scholar is required to complete a 10-week internship programme with the Donor and/or its designated companies.

    The scholar may be offered career opportunities by the Donor and/or its designated companies.

    No bond is required of the scholar.

    Tuition Grant Scheme

    Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

    Under the TGS, non-Singaporean scholars (Permanent Residents and foreigners) will be obligated to work for Singapore-based companies for three years upon graduation.

    The DFS Scholarship, established by DFS Venture Singapore (Pte) Limited, is aimed at encouraging full-time

    undergraduates in the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems Management) programme to strive for and

    achieve academic and professional excellence, and to pursue careers at the intersection of information technology

    and business.

    Up to five scholarships will be awarded annually, each tenable for one year.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for this Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    Full-time undergraduate of any nationality pursuing the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems) programme

    The Dorcas Phua Hui Hoon Study Award is established to provide financial assistance and to motivate full-time

    Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship

    General

    The Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship Fund was set up by the financial community in Singapore in honour of

    the former Deputy Prime Minister, who fostered Singapore's economic development and growth as a reputable

    international financial centre. The Dr GKS Scholarship is a private sector scholarship administered by the

    Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). Each year, 3 to 4 scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals

    from 15 Asia Pacific economies (Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia,

    Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar) to pursue undergraduate studies at local

    universities in Singapore (i.e., National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore

    Management University). The course of study should preferably be relevant to the financial sector.

    Eligibility

    The Scholarship is open to students from Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia,

    Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Singapore citizens and PRs are not eligible to

    apply for the Dr GKS Scholarship.

    The Dr GKS Scholarship is highly selective. Applicants should fulfil the following criteria:

    (a) Concurrently apply for admission to NUS, NTU or SMU for their course of study. Applicants should adhere to

    the universities admission deadlines and guidelines;

    (b) Demonstrate leadership qualities and possess good co-curricular activities (CCA) records;

    (c) Be a citizen/passport holder of the target Asia Pacific economies;

    (d) Make private arrangements to sit for the required university admission tests (e.g., SAT and TOEFL), and

    (e) Preferably be below 25 years of age.

    Duration and Terms of Award

    The scholarship supports a maximum of 4 years of undergraduate study (including Honours). It provides the

    following:

    (a) Tuition and other compulsory fees;

    (b) Airfare (to Singapore and return to home country upon completion of study);

    The FUTURE LEADER Scholarship is a highly coveted scholarship designed to identify the most talented and

    Kewalram Chanrai Group Endowed Scholarship

    The Kewalram Chanrai Group Endowed Scholarship is available to first-year full-time undergraduates of foreign

    The Krishna Exchange Scholarship is established by an anonymous SMU Business Management graduate for

    deserving full-time SMU undergraduate students who wish to spend a semester of studies overseas with an SMU

    partner university for international student exchange.

    Two scholarships are available for award in Academic Year 2011-12, one in each semester. The scholarship is

    Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship

    The Lee Foundation Student Life Scholarship is aimed at motivating full-time undergraduate students in any

    degree programme at the Singapore Management University to achieve greater heights of excellence in both their

    studies and co-curricular activities. It seeks to recognize students who have actively contributed to the vibrancy of

    student life whilst at the same time achieving good academic results.

    The total value of the Scholarships per annum is $20,000. The number of scholarships per annum is not fixed and

    will depend on the quality of the applying cohorts success in both studies and student life as well as the relative financial situations of the applicants. The $20,000 annual scholarship fund will be shared equally amongst the

    number of scholarships awarded for that year.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    Undergraduate students of any nationality in any degree programme

    An active student life

    Good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0)

    Preference for students with demonstrated financial needs (gross family monthly per capita income not exceeding $2,000)

    Lee Kong Chian Scholarship

    The Lee Kong Chian Graduate Scholarships (Scholarships) were established from donations received from the Lee

    Foundation and are the University's most prestigious scholarship awards for graduate students.

    The selection of candidates will take place once a year, in time for the start of the academic year in August. Up to

    5 new Scholarships will be given each year. Not all Scholarships will be awarded unless there are candidates of

    sufficient merit.

    Eligibility

    The Scholarships are open to students of all nationalities who gain admission to any Ph.D. programme at the

    University. In keeping with the donor's wishes, the Scholarships will be awarded to well-rounded individuals

    showing exceptional promise who have an appropriate balance of intellect and character. Scholarship recipients are

    selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to service.

    Award Amount A monthly stipend of S$3,300;

    Tuition, examination fees and other approved fees at NUS;

    An annual book allowance of S$500;

    A one-off air travel allowance of 2 return tickets of up to S$4,000 (only for overseas students subject to a

    maximum of S$2,000 per ticket); and

    A one-off laptop allowance of S$1,500.

    Award Period The award is tenable for 1 year in the first instance; but subject to the scholars satisfactory progress, it may be

    renewed annually. The maximum period of award is 4 years.

    Notification of Award Successful candidates will be informed of the outcome of their applications sometime in April.

    Lee Kong Chian Scholars' Programme

    Funded by a grant from the Lee Foundation, the Lee Kong Chian Scholarship is available to outstanding local and

    foreign undergraduates studying full-time at the Singapore Management University.

    Applicants for the Lee Kong Chian Scholars' Programme must complete two degrees in four years. One of the

    degrees must be awarded by the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. The other degree can be from any one of the

    Full-time SMU first year undergraduate student of any nationality pursuing double degree programme, including the Bachelor of Business Management.

    Scholarship is available to undergraduate students from the School of Social Sciences at the Singapore

    Management University. The Scholarship is aimed at motivating students to achieve greater heights of excellence.

    The scholarship, valued at $9,000 per year, is tenable for the duration of the scholar's studies (up to four years),

    subject to good academic performance. One scholarship will be awarded every four years.

    The MDIS Merit Scholarship is an initiative aimed at providing high-calibrate students with the opportunity to

    develop to their full potential. It offers scholarships to outstanding students pursuing their studies with MDIS.

    Merit Scholarship Application Rules The MDIS Merit Scholarship is solely offered to candidates who wish to enroll for MDIS full-time or part-time

    Donated by Lippo Group and the Riady family, the Scholarship is available to undergraduates currently studying

    full-time at the Singapore Management University. The award is aimed at motivating outstanding students at the

    Two scholarships will be awarded annually commencing Academic Year 2011-12. Each scholarship is tenable for

    one year of study.
