Pollen from anther must reach stigma of pistil

Self-pollination – both gametes come from same plant

Cross-pollination – gametes from flowers of 2 different plants◦ Wind, water, and insects carry pollen

1. Pollen lands on stigma

2. A pollen tube grows down the style to ovary to reach an ovule

3. A sperm travels down the tube to fertilize an egg

4. Egg develops into a seed

5. The fruit (pod or shell) forms around the seed

a) The first one will be of the flower in its natural state, not cut open.

b) The second drawing will be of the flower cut in half so you can see its reproductive parts.

Colour female parts one color and male parts another colour.

You will label all of the parts that you can see, in the same style as your textbook does on page 62. Use your textbook to help you, as well as your Gizmo.
