…Message from the vice president cont’d

The National Championships are fast approaching and I wish; Maddy Kitto (Eventing), Jarryd Stanley (Eventing), Eliza Harvey (Eventing), Tessa Goff (Games) and Ella Trevorrow (Tetrathlon), who are representing Victoria every success.

Sometimes whilst celebrating achievements such as those who were successful at the recent Combined Training Day or achievements on a grander scale, such as our National Championship riders, it can be easy to forget those whose goals are less auspicious. Congratulations to those riders and supporters who are learning horsemanship and how to ride, or quite simply didn't fall off this week. Congratulations to those riders who finally figured out how to rise on the correct trotting diagonal. Congratulations to those riders who felt that wonderful moment when you are at one with the canter, for the first time. And congratulations to those riders who were brave enough to go off lead, even for a little while. These are important wins too! Happy Riding. Tahnee Dewhurst Seville Pony Club Vice President

DC News & September Rally We have yet another very busy and exciting rally planned for this month. Some groups will be enjoying competition preparation lessons including ‘horse make-up’ which I know many of you are looking forward to! Please welcome Ruby Smiley and “Flash” who are new to the club this rally and will be starting with the Purple Group. We are delighted to have another former SPC member return to the club as instructor this month. Alice Embry was a long-standing member with her sister Laura and a member of many successful teams. Alice continues to ride and compete at a high level as well as study and instruct. She was the original owner of SPC legendary pony Glowing Glory who has been passed down through 7 other riders and is now in the Purple Group with his current owner Zara. It’s lovely to have ponies stay so long and along with Emily Anker and Anna Church have former members remain part of the community as instructors. Our dedicated Blue Group are in the final throes of preparation for their C Certificate with a Mock Assessment Day this Saturday and their final rally under the instruction of former NMZ Examining Secretary, Kylie Parker. We wish them the best. Best wishes from the DC team as well to our 5 PCAV Nationals Riders as well as Lilly Trevorrow who is competing at the Interschool Nationals also in Toowoomba. Congratulations to all who took part in our Combined Training competition and to all those of course who helped. The competition was a great success and fundraiser due to your involvement and we look forward to hosting it again next year. Have a breather but pop Feb 24 & 25 2018 in your diaries for the Seville PC Horse Trials. We’re looking for people to join the Organising Committee. No experience necessary just a willingness to get on board and enjoy being a part of it. For those wishing to be graded at a rally also please ensure you attend all lessons as per the plan. If anyone wishes to be graded at this rally, please send a note if you haven’t already to me at sevillepcdc@gmail.com. Anna Baker District Commissioner

SPC Working Bee

Enormous thanks to the Grounds and Maintenance Manager Andrew Rundle (Maison, Silver Group) for kindly co-ordinating the very successful working bee on Saturday August 5th. We had a wonderfully enthusiastic turn out and ticked off many jobs. The grounds looked stunning for our competition.
