LITURGY FOR EVANGELISM (Standing)

Holy! Holy! Holy! The Lord Almighty is holy! God's glory fills the world!

NICAEA Holy, holy, holy Lord Good almighty!

All your works shall praise your name in earth and sky and sea.

Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

God of creation, whose love invites all people to receive the blessing reserved for us since before time began, Grant ears of faith, that each one may clearly hear your gracious call.

Page 4: SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER ENTECOST

God of salvation, whose love encompasses all humanity, who assumed flesh and blood and died that all might live, Give eyes of faith, Lord Jesus, that everyone may plainly see you among us.

God of inspiration, whose love initiates new ways of reaching out to all who risk believing, Guide our lives in faith, that we may willingly become your instruments of love and truth.

With gratitude to the Lord we remember our rich heritage of committed servants, who carried the good news to their neighbors throughout the world, who followed Jesus' command: Go to all people and make them my disciples. We thank you, Eternal God, for those who have gone before us, faithful to the great commission. We praise you for imparting to us the same mission to reach others for Christ.

With humility before the Lord, we confess our sin: When we fail to communicate Jesus' promise of new life, When we have not reached beyond ourselves with the word entrusted to us, When we retreat into comfortable sanctuaries and do not seek to be a light to the nations, When we become preoccupied with church involvement for its own sake, and do not labor to proclaim salvation to the ends of the earth, Forgive us, we pray.

When we fail to recognize that the measure of success is not only in the number of constituents, but also in the sincerity of conversion, When we are too timid or afraid to speak the gospel message to those you want to hear it, When we allow a life of ease to divert us from those who need your love through us, Forgive us, we pray.

Touch our lips with the burning coals of your forgiveness, And purify our hearts.

The Lord your Redeemer says: Now your guilt is gone and your sins are forgiven.

ASH GROVE With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living,

the tasks of our ev’ryday life we will face. Our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring,

embracing God’s children of each tribe and race. God’s grace did invite us, God’s love shall unite us

to work for the kingdom and answer its call. The seed of Christ’s teaching, receptive souls reaching,

shall blossom in action for God and for all.

Throughout the ages God's call to mission summons a response. We affirm our heartfelt yearning to reply.

God asks: Whom shall I send? Who will be my messenger? And like Isaiah, the answer flows from our soul and forms on our lips, "I will go. Send me."

God, our Redeemer, we share a longing to minister as partners, together with you and each other. Our desire is shaped by your will, our commitment molded by your covenant. We dedicate ourselves again this day. We accept the challenge joyfully to proclaim Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

We covenant with you to be loving instruments of understanding and forgiveness among those to whom you send us. We promise anew to be living invitations for others to meet you as Lord and Savior.

5

Page 6: SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER ENTECOST

We press on with resolve so that your word may spread rapidly and you may be glorified everywhere. We must work the works of him who sends us while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. We will go. Send us.

FESTAL SONG Good news is ours to tell!

Let no one fail to hear! God gives us life; God conquers death!

There's nothing we must fear.

Proclaim the gracious word: God loves the whole wide earth,

to lift, to save, to reconcile, to grant essential worth!

DOXOLOGY AND OFFERTORY PRAYER WAREHAM

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heav’nly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

CHILDREN’S MOMENT WEIL ICH JESU SCHÄFLEIN BIN

I am Jesus’ little lamb; ever glad at heart I am; for my Shepherd gently guides me,

knows my need and well provides me, loves me ev’ry day the same, even calls me by my name.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dedication Sunday will take place on Sunday, September 26. On that Sunday, we encourage those of you who are worshipping in person to bring your completed financial 2022 commitment cards with you as we dedicate our commitments to God. We also encourage those of you who are worshipping with us by livestream to mail your financial commitment cards to the church office. Thank you!

New Postcard Ministry We are excited to announce a new Postcard Ministry for our congregation.  In the West Lobby, just outside the church office, you will find newly printed postcards along with a list of our college students and many of our members that live near and far but can’t often get to weekly worship.  We invite you to write a note to any (or all!) of these members and place it in the provided basket.  We will address and mail them on Mondays each week. COVID-19 Announcement: With the rise we are currently experiencing with the COVID-19 variants, the Joint Board strongly encourages all in-person worshippers to wear a mask.

Bible Study You are invited to participate in a  Zoom Bible Study taught by Pastor Lane  each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The study includes a time of intercessory prayer followed by study and discussion. During September, the Bible Study will focus on exploring Biblical themes of stewardship. We hope you will plan to join us! To access the study, please use the following ZOOM link:

Calvary Notecard Sets Available We're thrilled to announce the release of our new notecard set featuring a variety of art of the Calvary Moravian sanctuary building. Each set includes four cards and envelopes. The inside of the card is blank. We have two different packs available: one with four different paintings in our collection and another with four copies of the new Sean McNamara art. Each pack is $5. Cash or checks made out to Calvary Moravian are accepted. Shipping can be arranged for those that cannot make it to the church building. Please email Jacob ([email protected]) to reserve however many sets you would like. Have a blessed week!

Cooks Needed! The Women’s Fellowship is organizing a new  committee—Take A Meal.   This committee is open to the entire congregation, men and women (because we know some great men chefs!). This will be done through an app called Signup Genius. When a meal is needed, whether for death, birth or any other reason, I will send out an email from Signup Genius with what food items are needed, how much is needed, and where to bring items. You sign up for what

you would like to provide. Others can see what has been signed up for, preventing duplications. Don’t feel like you have to sign up for every meal. Sign up when you can. Not everyone can do every meal, nor do we expect you to. Please send your email address, name and phone number to [email protected]. Thank you for your willingness to participate in this valuable ministry. Questions? Call Donna Cheek at 336-399-0857.

New Art Prints Available We have prints available of the new artwork of Calvary Moravian by Sean McNamara! We have both 8x10 and 5x7, high-quality giclée prints suitable for framing. The 8x10's are 10 dollars each and the 5x7's are 5 dollars each.  Email Jacob at [email protected] to reserve your copy. We can also ship prints if you are out of town. We accept both checks and cash. Checks should be made out to Calvary Moravian Church. We have a limited amount available, so let us know if you are interested!
