Setting up a Saltwater Aquarium

Filter – Cleans water

Thermometer – Tells temperature of water

Heater - Keeps water warm (most freshwater fish 75-80*F)

Light – Allows better viewing and highlights the color of your fish. Keep lit from 4-10 hours per day.

Hood – Covers and protects your aquarium

Decorations – Makes tank look pretty and provides hiding spots for your fish. Fish need hiding spots. Do not use items that you collect on your own because they can be

harmful to your aquarium.

Water Conditioner – Removes chlorine from tap water

Gravel – Use coral gravel or sand. Use 1 pound of gravel per gallon of water.

Sea Salt – Salt needed for saltwater fish. Read instructions on salt so you know how much to add. 1 cup for every 2 gallons

Hydrometer – Check specific gravity of water. Should be between 1.022 – 1.024

Bio Wheel – will provide bacteria necessary to help get rid of some of the toxic waste created by the fish.
