Setting up a RTK Survey

Using Trimble Access

From the Trimble Access home screen select “Settings”.

Select “Bluetooth”.

Select “Connect”.

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Turn

on the devices you are going to connect (e.g. Base/Rover Receivers).

If the devices listed in your base and rover boxes match the equipment you’re

using (check serial numbers listed)

continue to “CONFIGURING SURVEY STYLES”

If there are no devices in your rover and

base selections, select “Config”

Select the devices tab, and select “New Partnership”.

After “Scanning for Bluetooth

Devices” is complete; Select your

device from the list, and select “Next”

Select “Finish”.

Leave the “Passkey” blank, and select next.

Select the appropriate devices for the rover and base, and select “Accept”

If you have another device to connect,

select “New Partnership” and repeat

previous steps. When all devices are listed select “ok” in the upper right

corner.

Select “RTK”, then “Edit”.

Select “Survey Styles” from the “Settings” screen.

Select “Rover options”, then “Edit”

Survey Type: “RTK”

Broadcast format: “CMR+”

Use station index: “Any” Prompt station index:

Select next page button in the lower

right corner of the screen.

Select the point of measurement, and

antenna height. This can also be during your survey.

Select next page button in the lower

right corner of the screen.

Satellite differential: “Off” Elevation mask: “10°”

PDOP mask: “6.0”

These are recommended mask settings under most conditions, change them if

necessary.

Select next page button in the lower right corner of the screen.

Select “Rover Radio”, then “Edit”

If your rover is GNSS enabled check

both boxes and select “Accept”

Select “Trimble internal”, then select “Trimble 450/900” for method.

Select Connect.

Radio operating mode: “Rover”.

Frequency: Select appropriate frequency and make a note of it for the base.

Base radio mode: “TT450s at 9600 bps”

Select “Accept”.

Survey Type: “RTK”

Broadcast format: “CMR+”

Use station index: “27”

Prompt station index: 10°

Antenna Type: “R8/5800/SPS78x

Internal”

Select next page button in the lower right corner of the screen.

Select “Base options”, then “Edit”.

If your base is GNSS enabled check both

boxes and select “Accept”

Select the point of measurement, and

antenna height. This can also be set

when you start the survey.

Select next page button in the lower right corner of the screen.

Select “Base radio”, then “Edit”

Select “Trimble internal”, then select

“Trimble 450/900” for method.

Select Connect.

Select “Accept”, then “Store”, then “Esc”.

Radio operating mode: “Base”.

Frequency: Select the same frequency as the rover.

Base radio mode: “TT450s at 9600 bps”

Repeaters supported: “One”

Channel sharing: “None”

Select next page button in the lower

right corner of the screen.

Select “Jobs”, then “New job”.

From the Trimble Access home screen

select “General Survey”.

Enter a name for your job, specify the

units you will be working in, then select “Coord. sys.:”

Select the button next to “Select from

library”.

Specify “Grid” or “Ground” for

coordinate display, and enter a “Project height”.

This will be used in calculating ground

distances.

Select “Store”, then “Accept” to return to the General Survey menu.

Select the appropriate coordinate system, zone, and geoid model.

Select next page button in the lower

right corner of the screen.

Then “Start base receiver”.

Select “Measure”, then “RTK”.

You should see the “Starting survey”

progress bar.

Select a point for your base location.

(You can select the arrow, then select “Key in”; then either manually enter

the coordinates, or select “Here” for automatic autonomous coordinates.

Enter the antenna height and make sure

the “Measured to:” is correct.

Select “Start”

Your base is now transmitting

corrections. To begin collecting data select “Measure”.

Select “OK”
