How To Be An Engaging Speaker• Speak Up

Check audio levels before presenting, but also make sure to breathe at regular intervals to speak audibly and clearly.

• More is MoreA single speaker can be highly engaging, but including additional speakers often provides a more conversational experience for the audience. (Note RIMS speaker limits)

• PracticePractice your presentation in advance to ensure there are no pre-set animations or timing issues.

• Be Prepared During the presentation, have a glass of water nearby to sip as needed. Also, keep handy a printout of your slides or notes in case you need to refer to them.

• Emotional connections help learners stay engaged and retain information, so use stories.

• Laughter is the best and quickest path to long-term memories. If you can get your audience to laugh, you’ll grab their attention and help to commit the material to memory.

• Being able to test one’s knowledge while learning is a phenomenal tool to keep participants engaged in the content and validate the knowledge that they are gaining.

• Use quizzes and tests as a way to get people to think about the content they shared, and give them time to participate.
