How does the Mexican Retail Environment differ from that in Canada or the US? In What ways is it Similar

• Foreign Exchange Rates• Interest Rates• Inflation Rates• Stability has come to the Mexican Economy, it has

not completely eliminated the economic risk.• Revolutionary Party had ruled Mexico since 1920

and this responsible for the introduction of NAFTA and economic reforms.

• Legal System in Mexico is not used to the same extent as in USA & Canada

• Social issues which are raised in the case. Mexican Tradition of hierarchical corporate structures. In Mexico most employees are unwilling to take responsibility.

• Mexican employees are ready to be empowered or empowerment should come to Mexico but not yet?

• Training & Behavior?• Mystery shoppers?• Importance of food in Mexican culture and How this

might impact the store design?

• Appearance of stores would be the same as in USA?• For Hiring: employees had to be young and they had

to have little or no experience.
