Sesame Street Presents: The Body

“Sesame Street Presents: The Body” offers multiple activities to provide age appropriate and exciting learning opportunities for children at a variety of developmental levels.  The exhibition emphasizes scientific investigation and developmental and curriculum-based learning goals for children ranging from two to eight years old.  The exhibit features a wide range of opportunities for children to observe, investigate, experiment and talk about what they are learning.  The four different educational zones are “How You Work,” “Your Insides,” “Your Outsides,” and “Staying Healthy.”

OBJECTIVE OR GOAL OF ACTIVITY:The work in the Exhibit consists of maintaining a safe environment, monitoring interactive areas and creating a general sense of hospitality for our guests. 

 

Exhibit Support Overview

• Welcome guests into “Sesame Street Presents: The Body” exhibit and take tickets at its entrance. There will be a charge above the general admission price for this exhibit. An adult must accompany all children.

• Assist guests as needed in the exhibit areas, anticipating the level of support that different age groups and backgrounds require for an enriching experience. Volunteers to pay special attention to Mr. Hooper’s Store and Grover’s Obstacle Course.

• Monitor exhibit stations and reset when needed.• Report all station malfunctions to the Visitor Services Desk.• Help with crowd control during Elmo’s special appearances.

Volunteers

• Apply common sense Museum safety and housekeeping measures for public areas. This includes overseeing that the exhibits are being interacted with properly and that there is no food or drink in the exhibit areas. Also, picking up occasional stray trash and keeping chairs, stools and benches in their proper place. Putting items in Mr. Hooper’s Store back in place.

 

• Manage the interaction time on our more popular stations if the number of guests warrants. This is critical for the Grover’s Obstacle Course.

• Monitor the exit to the exhibit. • No child exits without an adult.

Volunteer Schedule

Times Needed:

Monday through Friday

• 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

• 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Sunday

• 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The Day You Volunteer• Be on time. • ENTER ON THE CRAWFORD STREET

SIDE OF THE MUSUEM • Report in at the Information Desk in the

Grand Hall and receive Museum vest. • 5 minute orientation to the facility and

what's happening. • Assigned a station in Sesame Street.   • Drinks, snacks and great gifts are

available in the Amazing Body Store. • Report back to the information desk for

check out at the end of shift. • Double shifts available.
