THE CANDLE OF LOVE AND

A REDEEMER

In the Old Testament, a redeemer was your closest relative who was charged

with the responsibility to ransom, rescue, or generally save your life. The New Testament tells us that Jesus came into this world to be our redeemer. In effect, he came to function as our closest relative. In fact, he said he would be closer to us than a brother. He also said that greater love has no man than that he lay down his

life for his friends. He then added that he considers us all his friends! The

candle of love reminds us that Jesus came into this world to save us, to be our Redeemer. We are also told that

He did this because He loves us. Today, receive this Redeemer and

receive this love, and then share this wonderful, good news with your friends. Merry Christmas!

—Bro. Mark

Intentional Interim Informational Meetings

The UBC Ministry Staff, Personnel Committee and Deacon Chair are working together to implement a short-term

transition program. The Church Council met with BGCT Intentional Interim Ministry representative, Karl Fickling,

on November 30 and chose to continue pursuing this as an option. On December 14, UBC committee members,

ministry team members, and Sunday school leadership gathered to meet with Karl. All groups agreed to continue

looking into this opportunity by having Karl present to the church at large on Sunday, January 11.

Sunday, January 11 2:00pm Harris Hall

ALL church members are invited to meet with BGCT representative

During January and February, the pulpit will be filled with a variety of guest speakers. Our intention is to secure

an interim minister no later than March 1.

As we work together during this transition period, we welcome input, commentary and prayers for the process. If

you have questions, concerns or observations, please contact Crawford Johnson, Deacon Chair; Shari Barnes,

Personnel Chair; or any member of the ministry staff.

to join us for a reception to meet our

It’s hard to believe that in only a few short days,

the holidays will be in our rear view mirrors and

we will be looking ahead at a brand new year. Your spiritual journey as a follower of Christ began the moment

you put your trust in Christ as Savior and Lord. From that point, our life’s call is to grow in Christ’s likeness.

Chart your spiritual growth plan intentionally with these January Discipleship classes.
