UBC will open Watson Chapel for prayer on Thursday mornings,

February 19 through March 26 from 7:15 to 7:45am for a service

of Morning Prayer. We will pray for the well-being and blessing of

all colleges and universities in our area. We will ask God to be

active in the lives of our students, and to give them wisdom, courage, and the grace they need to share the love of

Christ with others. We will also pray for our role as a congregation, that God might use us to bear witness to Christ

and to help others follow him. This isn’t only open to students—ALL members of the UBC congregation are invited

and welcome to come pray for our students and their universities. Please, feel free to invite guests!

This weekend University Baptist

Church is glad to welcome Dr. David Bowman as he joins us in worship. Locally, Dr. Bowman serves as Executive Director of the Tarrant

Additionally, Dr. Bowman is an adjunct

instructor for Dallas Baptist University, has twenty years of pastoral

experience, and has worked as a Congregational Strategist for Texas Baptists. He holds Doctor of Ministry

and Master of Divinity degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological

Seminary, and a bachelor’s degree in

history from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

We are thankful to have Dr. Bowman as our guest, and pray that God will work through him as he preaches this Sunday.

Daniel Rodriguez gives an introduction to biblical criticism with an emphasis on learning to use tools, especially

digital ones. We will walk through “problems of the Bible” and look at them according to the various kinds of

biblical criticisms while using tools such as Strong’s database to access Hebrew and Greek words, Hebrew and Greek

dictionaries, Bible dictionaries, and scholarly commentaries. Together we will dig into God’s word.

Call to Prayer Be in prayer for our Intentional Interim Search Committee. Pray for each

individual member listed below, the committee as a whole, the staff, our church, the search process, and the

candidate that God is preparing to bring to us.

Tommy Gilstrap (chair), Phil Briggs, Nancy Cotten, Kathy Raines, Daniel Rodriguez, Dan Smith, Mary Ellen Tarrance

An Update from the Intentional Interim Pastor Search Committee… The search process for an Intentional Interim Minister continues, and we’re excited to report that we have spoken

directly with two candidates this week to determine their availability and initial interest in working with UBC during

our transition. Our team meets again this afternoon to discuss those conversations and our resulting next step. As we

inch closer to our initial target date of having an IIM with us beginning March 1, we realize we may not make this

deadline. Guest preachers have been tentatively scheduled for the first three weeks in March just in case we have not

made formal arrangements with an IIM before then. Thanks for your continued prayers for our committee, our church,

the search process, and the candidate that God is preparing to bring to us.

Wednesday, February 25 6:00pm Harris Hall Church Business Meeting

Featuring Jen Hatmaker, Sandi Patty, Luci Swindoll, and more! Experience a remarkable weekend celebration

to be reminded—or discover for the very first time—

what God’s grace and love mean for you. Discounted tickets can be purchased for $109.

Reserve your spot by getting a check to the church office by Wednesday, February 25.

October 2-3, 2015

In a seven-week journey toward Easter, Will McDonald will lead our exploration of spiritual disciplines that will

invigorate our connection with Christ. These practical and exciting strategies of engagement will enhance our ability

to experience life together with our Risen Lord. Celebration of Easter is just around the corner!

Creative Connections: A Spiritual Journey Through Lent

Sundays, February 15 – March 29 2:30 – 3:30pm Room 101

Each Sunday leading up to Easter, University Baptist Church will receive gifts for the Annie

Armstrong Easter Offering, which supports the North American Mission Board’s

“Send North America” strategy.

This special offering for Annie Armstrong is a designated gift, set apart from

our budgeted missions giving and our World Mission Offering. Therefore, this

gift should be considered “above and beyond” your regular tithes and

offerings that support our ministry.

In order to kick off our effort, the UBC staff has collected $1000. This includes ministry and administrative staff, as

well as those who work in our ELC. We invite you to join us! Our congregational goal is to collect $7500 by Easter

Sunday, April 5. We will keep you posted about our progress each week in the bulletin, and will celebrate our giving

on Sunday, April 12. Envelopes for this special offering will be available in the pews in the sanctuary, or gifts can be

sent to the church office with a note designating the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Let’s combine our resources and

help others to hear the good news about Jesus Christ!

UBC’s sanctuary will look different March 8 and 15, as we’ll have 20 pews

from the back of the room removed to receive new seat cushions and upholstery. The Property & Space Committee is

working continually to improve our space for UBC members and guests, and we’re excited about this next step. We’ll

all sit a little closer together for a couple weeks, and then you may look for our upgraded pews to be back in place

for Sunday, March 22.

Changes are coming!

TODAY! Sunday, February 22 following worship in Harris Hall

It's not too early to think about helping in Kid Power Camp, June 22-26.

We need volunteers to help with registration, crafts, recreation, Bible study,

music, audio/visual, snacks, material preparation, cooking meals, Friday

night greeters, Spanish translation, and security. Following worship on

Sunday, February 22, join us in Harris Hall to sign up and get more

information about how you can be involved.
