TECHNOPRINT is the largest exhibition for printing, packaging and advertising industries ever
held in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.
TECHNOPRINT was first organized in 2006, with gross area of about 4,000 m2 in Hall 4 only in
the CICC (Cairo International Convention Center). Because of the overwhelming attendance the
hall was fully occupied, and the great success achieved for both exhibitors and visitors, organi-
zers of TECHNOPRINT planned to make it a biannual exhibition and worked harder to maximize
the size and the success achieved in 2006. In 2007 everything was extended including the days
of the exhibit to five days instead of four, the exhibition area was extended to all CICC halls 1,2,3

Fifth Dynasty Tomb and Name of a New Queen Discovered at SaqqaraAn Egyptian archaeological mission has discovered the tomb of a Fifth Dynasty dignitary named
Khuwy during an excavation and documentation survey carried out in south Saqqara, and has
also discovered the name of the queen to whom a pyramid complex in the area belonged.
The tomb consists of a superstructure with an L-shaped offering chamber, which was once
decorated with reliefs. Only the bottom part of this decoration is preserved, as the white lime-
stone blocks of the other parts were re-used in the construction of other buildings in antiquity.
Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that the
mission has found at the north wall of the tomb, the entrance to a unique substructure, which

Egypt's per Capita Share of Pure Water Rises by 8.6% in 2018Although Egypt's per capita share of water declined to 570 m3 per year in 2018, the per capita
average of produced pure water rose 8.6 percent in 2018, said the Central Agency for Public
Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Monday.
CAPMAS announced an increase in the total quantity of produced pure water by 9.9 percent in
2017/2018 as it reached 10.8 billion cubic meters, comparing to 9.8 billion meters.
The agency attributed the increase of produced water to the increasing number of different
water stations; the number of pure water stations produced from surface water (Nile River) is

Industrial Development Group - IDG
The Industrial Development Group, as a pioneer in the field of Industrial
Development takes great pride in announcing the signing of an MOU
with the Deutch Gesellschaft Für Internationale Zusammenerabeit (GIZ)
and the German Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (PSME) in a bilateral technical coop-
eration program under the guidance of the Egyptian Ministry for Trade and Industry. The objective
of this agreement is to provide IDG with the support and the technical development of its team’s
capacities in order to transform current brownfields into (SIA) green fields and the development
of its current Greenfields.
Our current model as embodied in the success of our flagship e2 Park in 6th of October City, is an
expression of the group’s track record and know how. Yet, we believe that it’s only the beginning,
a solid foundation for realizing and building the natural progression of industrial ecosystems; capi-
talizing on the synergies between our parks, their members and neighboring communities.
Industrial development in its current form is generally acknowledged as a construction exercise,
but in reality its potential as a chief support function in socio-economic and environmental
improvement is rivaled by no other in the private sector

SEKEM Launches Campaign for Greening the Desert and Ethical Investment
Since 1977, the SEKEM Initiative in Egypt has already reclaimed and cultivated more than 680
hectares of desert land. Back then, greening the desert had been already an important step in
order to shape a sustainable future and to tackle food insecurity or environmental challenges.
Today, this is of more urgency than ever; considering that the worldwide food demand is con-
stantly growing while at the same time the fertile soils on this planet is decreasing. Every minute,
the world loses fertile soils equivalent to 30 soccer fields due to soil erosion and an increasing
environmental pollution. To address those challenges, SEKEM aims to cultivate 63 additional
hectares of desert land in 2019 in order to grow Biodynamic (Demeter-certified) food that is not
harming the environment but providing a healthy nutrition to the people.
In order to build up fertile, healthy soil in the desert by Biodynamic farming methods, sustainable
irrigation is crucial. The required water will be extracted from deep wells and distributed by circle
irrigation systems (pivots); SEKEM intends to install 3 of those water saving Pivot-systems. In order
to not only minimize water usage but CO2 emissions as well, the new irrigation systems will be
powered by a hybrid system that maximizes the use of solar energy. To finance these new solar-
irrigation systems, SEKEM needs a start-up capital of 400 000 Euros until in a few years the new
agriculture will be able to cover all costs itself.
SEKEM’s new project “Greening the Desert – 2019” will be implemented on the SEKEM Farm in
the Bahariya Oasis, where SEKEM has already reclaimed several hectares of desert land, gained
experience with solar irrigation systems and where the air is far less polluted than in other parts
of Egypt. On the new reclaimed fertile land, the food demand of about 2 000 people could be
covered. Through building up healthy soil and planting more than 10 000 trees, over 975 tons of
CO2 are sequestered annually (equivalent to the average CO2 emissions of more than 400 people
in Egypt per year).
With “Greening the Desert” SEKEM is able to foster three goals of its recently published vision for
2057: 100% sustainable agriculture in Egypt, carbon neutrality and ethical money.
