to visualize Smart Services processes, one often refers to a services “chain”. 7layers has developed a different model to analyze the various stakeholders and their activities. our Soda® model describes a Smart Service in terms of a dynamic “circular” process that must be continuously monitored once it has been set up:

We place the User, who is seeking to create a more efficient lifestyle, at the center of the process. Service Originators realize their Smart Service business ideas with the support of a Service Provider, who is responsible for the business relationship. Users, equipped with Connected Devices, permit data to be sent to a Smart Services Data platform, which in turn enables the Action required by the User to take place. the various stakeholders interact at different points in time, however the ongoing process is not completed with the initiation of the (sometimes preemptive) action.

Essential requirements such as Connectivity & interference, Data Security, Accountability & non-repudiation as well as Smart Service Quality must be fulfilled and maintained in order to ensure the acceptance and perfect functioning of such a process.

currently, the majority of Smart Services being developed and set-up are proprietary solutions comprising wireless-connected devices and sensors, Smart Services platforms, data collection, data analysis, actions and/or applications. the solutions adhere both to official rules & regulations and proprietary requirements.

Smart Services involve a number of different stakeholders with diverse interests, such as manufacturers or suppliers of connected devices, business platform providers, application developers or action deliverers, plus the Smart Services provider himself.

the 7layers Soda® cube provides all stakeholders with a well-structured, integrated overview of the diverse essential requirements that must be addressed, irrespective of whether you are marketing a complete Smart Service or are only concerned with some of its individual elements.
