Bank Asia emerged as Public Limited Company in 1999 with an aim to be fully customer focused through rendering technology driven product. The bank obtained its Certifi cate of Incorporation and Certifi cate of Commencement of Business on September 28, 1999 and Banking License on October 06, 1999. Subsequently the Bank was listed with Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on January 06, 2004.In 2001 Bank Asia set a milestone by acquiring the Bangladesh operations of the Bank of Nova Scotia of Canada, fi rst in the banking history of Bangladesh. It repeated the achievement by acquiring the Bangladesh operations of Muslim Commercial Bank Ltd. (MCB) of Pakistan.The Bank has been consolidating its strength through spreading over its network across the country with 68 Branches, 6 SME Service Centers, 5 Islamic Windows and 5 Brokerage Branches. We formed one fully owned and one majority owned subsidiary companies in 2011 alongside the main operation; one is BA Exchange Company (UK) Ltd. in London, UK for strengthening infl ows of foreign remittance and another one is Bank Asia Securities Ltd. for brokerage operation. Q Where there are slabs and range in charges; what will be the base for charges realization?

Ans. Branches will realize charges based on the largest value of the highest slab unless otherwise approved by Corporate Offi ce.

Q What will be the validity period of this Schedule of Charges?

Ans. The schedule of charges will remain valid until further notice. However, Bank Asia reserves the right to amend/add terms, conditions, or rates stated in the schedule of charges any time. Any directive from regulators regarding schedule of charges will come into eff ect immediately.

Q How should VAT be realized?

Ans. VAT should be realized from customer/benefi ciary as per laws and regulations applicable for the period.

Q Is applicable VAT included in the fees, charges and commissions?

Ans. No, VAT is not included. VAT will be added on top of fees, charges and commissions.

Q Who will bear VAT and what will be the base for VAT calculation?

Ans. Customer/benefi ciary will bear VAT. Where there are slabs and range; base for VAT will be the largest value of the applicable slab disregarding the actual fees, charges and commissions taken from client.

Q Who will be responsible for deducting VAT?

Ans. Respective branch will primarily be responsible for deducting VAT at the time of realizing fees, charges and commissions.

Q Who should be contacted for clarifi cation about charges?

Ans. Customer will contact concerned Manager Operation/Head of Branch for any clarifi cation regarding any charges in schedule. If needed, the Branch will contact Finance & Accounts Department of Corporate Offi ce for further clarifi cation.
