Product feature
The casing like base and cover, which is made of the USA IDI company’s thermosetting material, has
high quality in strength and insulation, so as to ensure the breakers’ performance reliably. Advanced design of operation mechanism, rapid breaking and slight tripping force. Adopting the
“Double-way breaking system”, not only reducing the circuit breaker’s cubage, but greatly improving the short circuit breaking capacity as well.
The contact system adopts the principle of electromagnetic repulsion. Once there is fault current, the electromagnetic repulsion can separate the moving and stationary contacts rapidly, and increases the spacing, so as to achieve current limiting and improve the breaking capacity.
The circuit breakers of the same rated current frame and different breaking capacity share the absolutely identical dimensions of externality and installation, which can extremely improve the interchangeability.
The design of cassette-type accessories (including shunt release, under-voltage release, auxiliary contact and alarm contact) insures the flexibility of control function. The user can install them without opening the cover, and need not any adjustment. Since adopting design of the insulation box, the operation security has been improved.
The shunt release is applicable for a wide range of rated working voltage, and both of AC220V and AC380V, which not only makes wiring convenient, but also effectively prevents the shunt release from damage caused by mistaken voltage.
The UEM5L series residual MCCB have reliable low-voltage protection, which have insured the residual current protection to work normally even with the line voltage low to 50V. For one product, not only the residual operating current can be adjusted, but operating time’s non-delay and delay can be adjustable as well, furthermore, can open or close the residual current protection based on customers’ requirements, which have improved the operation flexibility.
The rated insulation voltage up to 800V, rated impulse withstands voltage up to 8000V, which can meet the application requirement of switch cabinet.

Double insulation
Use double insulation to complete isolate the main circuit and control circuit, the shell of all accessories are completely isolated from main circuit, which eliminate the risk of electric shock, and protect the operator’s safety during operation and equipment inspection. In addition, the thickness and insulation distance of the insulation material in the internal electrified parts ensure the enough insulation strength, which is far exceeding the IEC standard.
Reliable operation
Circuit breaker operating handle instruct the position of movable contact to ensure safe and reliable indication (I = Closed; O = Open; -- = tripping off). Circuit breaker operating mechanism is trip-free, no related with the pressure and operating speed on handle. The release tripping will automatically disconnect the movable contact; if need to Close again, the operating handle need to be reset (via putting the handle from the middle position to the minimum limit of Open position).
Selectivity
Complete tripper series allow selecting the optional equipment protection base on the current, time, power or residual current, so as to isolate the fault zone, maximum guarantee the power supply continuity.
Convenient inspection
Once circuit breaker does not work properly, can directly check the status of internal parts and electrified parts, remove the circuit breaker cover, then can check the arc extinguishing chamber, movable contact and fixed contact, as the parts is fewer, the maintenance time can be greatly reduced, the maintenance safety has also been better ensured.。

Application
UEM5 Series Molded Case Circuit Breakers (circuit breakers for short below) are applicable to the electrical network under the condition of AC50Hz, rated working current 10A - 800A, rated insulation voltage 800V and rated working voltage 400V or below. They have overload, short-circuit and under-voltage protection performances, among which the UEM5L series residual current circuit breakers can be used to protect human body and equipment from electric shock and residual current, as well as to prevent from fire danger due to earth-fault current which is caused by equipment insulation damage. Normally, the circuit breakers also take the role of infrequent turn-on or turn-off and infrequent motor starting-up.
The circuit breakers can be equipped with the accessories such as under-voltage release, shunt release, auxiliary contact, alarm contact, motor-driven operation mechanism, turning operation handle, etc.

Operating condition
Ambient air temperature a) Upper limit: +40℃; b) Lower limit: -5℃; c) The average value within a 24-hour period must not exceed +35℃.
Altitude
The installation place’s altitude must not exceed 2000m.
Relative humidity
Relative humidity must not exceed 50% at the maximum ambient temperature of +40℃, but can be higher at a lower temperature; the average maximum relative humidity should be 90% at the average lowest temperature of +25℃ in the most humid month, considering the dews on product surface due to temperature change as well.
Pollution degree The pollution degree is 3, and that of the internal accessories is 2.
Installation category Ⅲ for the main circuit of the breakers, and Ⅱ for the auxiliary and control circuits.
Installation conditions The circuit breakers can be installed either vertically or horizontally. Wire connection usually follows line side on top, load side on bottom, and the magnetic intensity of installed location should not be more than 5 times that of earth magnetic field at any direction.

Use and maintenance The circuit breaker’s protection characteristics of long time delay and instantaneous short circuit have
been set by the manufacturer, and it could not be adjusted arbitrarily. The rated residual working current
and residual current working time can be adjusted by the users according to actual needs.
When the main circuit is energized, the circuit breaker should be off if the “test” button is pushed down.
This test can only prove that the residual current protection function is in normal state, but cannot show
the concrete residual operating current value and time.
For the circuit breaker equipped with under-voltage release, the under-voltage release should be energized
in advance before the circuit breaker is switched on. Otherwise, the circuit breaker would be damaged!
The voltage withstand test and the insulation resistance test can be only made between polarity and ground,
but not between polarities, because of the electronic elements in the products.
The power side and the load side are showed on the outside of the residual current circuit breakers, and the
wires must be fixed according to regulations. The circuit breakers usually cannot be fed inversely.
No. “1, 3, 5” stands for the line side, “2, 4, 6” stands for the load side, “N” stands for the neutral.
The residual current protection function should be tested regularly (for example, one time per month) by
pushing down the test button. It is not permitted to directly connect the line with the neutral to do action
tests

Characteristic of MCCB with residual current The work principle of residual current operated circuit breakers:
When the protected circuit (which is wired behind the residual current operated circuit breakers) occurs residual current or electric shock, as long as the value of residual current or electric shock current reaches the residual current operation value, the zero sequence current transformer’s secondary winding will send a voltage signal, which is examined by IC circuit, magnified and output, and enable the residual current release work to rapidly break the fault circuit off (according the setting requirement, the time-delay residual current operated circuit breakers breaks the fault circuit off after a certain delay time), so as to protect from residual current or electric shock.
Warning: the residual current operated circuit breakers cannot protect from electric shock danger
when human body touches both phase lines.

Notices for operation of the residual current operated circuit breakers
The acting characteristic of residual current should be selected according to the standard of residual current protection installation and application, GB13955-92.
a) For protection for outlet loop at the end of circuit and hand-hold mobile electric apparatus, select the no time-delay circuit breakers of I△n 30mA.
b) The rated residual operating current (I△n) of integration power distribution protection circuit breaker which is not for end protection, is usually selected according to one thousandth of the circuit working current. For breaking time, the time-delay type should be selected first.
c) For three-phase and four-line load circuit, select the four-pole circuit breaker.
Notices for wiring::
a) The circuit breaker is applicable for TT, TN-C-S and TN-S system of neutral earthed conductor. In
these conditions, it is strictly prohibited to connect PEN line or PE line to the N pole on the circuit
breaker’s load side, so as to prevent from unwanted operation or refuse operation.
b) In TN-C system, it should be considered to select residual current operating circuit breakers with N
pole constantly switched on. The PEN line can not break off, so the PE line of load cover should be
connected on the incoming end of the residual current operating circuit breakers, so as to prevent from
refuse operation as residual current can not be detected. For protect N line from over load, the residual
current operating circuit breakers with over current release on the N pole can be considered.
c) In IT system, usually it is suitable to install the RCCB. It is because that the system neutral point is
not earthed, and the residual current operating circuit breakers fail to operate with small fault residual
current. But in some location, failure insulation of circuit or too long routing can enlarge the
distributed capacitance in the networks. In this situation, the residual current operating circuit
breakers should be installed.
d) The neighbor outlet ends of circuitries with residual current protection should be connected with zero
lines in each, but cannot share one line.
For the UEM5L series residual current operating circuit breakers, no matter three-pole or four-pole,
the electronic circuits of the residual current release are both power-supplied by A,B and C 3 phases
(380V).
The imbalance in load will not affect the normal operation of the residual current operating circuit
breakers.
The test button can be pushed down to examine whether the circuit breaker works, but it is not
specially used for breaking operation. So do not push it frequently to prevent the test resistance from
being burnt.
If a newly installed circuit breaker is “unwanted tripping”, please examine whether the outlet end of
circuit breaker has been earthed repeatedly or connected wrongly.

Under-voltage release The under-voltage release is used for under-voltage protection of circuit and power
equipment. Rated working voltage: AC50Hz, 220V or 380V. With the working voltage of 35%-70% of the rated voltage, the under-voltage release can
make the circuit breaker trip reliably. With the working voltage less than 35% of the rated voltage, the under-voltage release can
prevent the circuit breaker from being switched on. With the working voltage of 85%-110% of the rated voltage, the under-voltage release can
ensure the circuit breaker to work normally. (Note: only after the under-voltage release is energized with the rated working voltage, the
circuit breaker can be switched on. Otherwise, the circuit breaker would be damaged.)

Shunt release The shunt release is used for long distance control of circuit breaker switched off. Rated working voltage: AC50Hz, 220V or 380V; DC 24V or 110V. The shunt release should make the breaker trip reliably when the operation voltage is 70%-
110% of the rated control voltage.

Auxiliary contact and alarm contact The auxiliary contact is used for auto control of circuit breaker’s control loop. For example

Motor-driven operation mechanism
Mounted in the circuit breakers, the motor-driven operation mechanism is used for long-distance control of circuit breakers’ close and open. There are three types: DC1, DC2 and DC3. DC1--adopting motor-driven, and applicable to circuit breakers with rated frame current 400A to 800A. DC2--adopting electromagnet-driven, and applicable to circuit breakers with rated frame current 250A or below. DC3- adopting advanced switch power technology and mini type permanent magnetic motor-driven, low working current, and applicable to both AC and DC circuit and circuit breakers with rated frame current 63A-800A.

Turning handle operation mechanism The operation mechanism is mounted on the circuit breaker’s cover and applicable to the circuit breaker installed on electric control cubicle. Externality of type ”Y” round handle and the aperture dimension on the panel sheet (unit: mm)
Note: 1). The short handles are used for breakers with rated frame current 225A or below, and the long
handles are used for breakers with rated frame current 400A or above. 2). The breakers with rated frame current 225A or below should be equipped with 8 x 8 square axes.
The breakers with rated frame current 400A or above should be equipped with 10 x 10 square axes .both square axes are 150mm long.
