Ambitions

Our mission The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations.

Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid.

Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty. Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living.

Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from social-dependable government programs. Indirectly, we want to affect on birth rate of Serbian people that has been in great decline in last 20 years.

What are our long term goals?

• family is ready to support itself daily and manage to pay all required expenses and bills;

• their children are encouraged to continue with school and raising their own family;

• our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families;

• our organization is satisfied with the results;

• family is ready in the future to become our donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help.

Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.

FAMILY BALOVIĆ GOT THEIR NEW HOUSE!

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs has successfully finished its biggest project – building a new family house for the six-member family Balović from the village Rajetiće near Novi Pazar. During the last eight months, the organization Serbs for Serbs has financed the building of the house in cooperation with the Serbian cultural society from Geneva, and the Charity organization Stara Raška from Belgrade in the amount of 17,620 EUR, which is located at the so-called dividing line between central Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija.

On Sunday, December 2, 18 members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs went from Belgrade to Rajetiće to celebrate the magnificent event. The organization issued a thank note to Mr. Zvonko Milanović, dedicated to the Electrodistribution Novi

Pazar, which set the new pillars and brought electricity to the new Balović house. The parents and the children Sara, Kristina, Verica and Veljko are delighted with their new home, which will keep them from the cold winter, which is present here four to six months per year.

Moving the family into the house was the most important, but not the last phase in building the house. Building a little house around the water pump, which should bring the water into the house represents the most important segment of the works ahead of us. The works will be continued during the winter, depending on the weather conditions.

Unfortunately, this is only one family which our organization managed to put under the new roof. There are dozens of families in the village and nearby, who need charity and housing. The number across Serbia and Balkan grows up to several hundred thousand. We hope that, with God's help, and the help of good people worldwide, we can gather Serbian nation around these and similar charity projects in the future.

Children are our future!

GREENHOUSE FOR FAMILY STOJANOVIC

On Sunday, December 16, members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs visited an eleven-member family Stojanovic from Vinoraca near Jagodina, consisting of father Goran, mother Jasmina, their seven children and Goran's parents. As we announced during the previous visit, we provided a greenhouse to this hard working family in the amount of 405,000 dinars. The greenhouse meets the highest standards in the agriculture, and we hope that the yield will be good, and that the family can improve their living conditions.

The greenhouse was set in the middle of November. Until February next year, the family needs 800 tomato seedlings in order to start producing in the new greenhouse. We use this opportunity to send an appeal to the city authorities in Jagodina to help us provide the seedlings, and thus support this family, which is an example of fight against the white plague. Since the greenhouse was set until our visit, Goran made another, smaller greenhouse, which will serve as a place for seedlings, and cauldron for heating of the big greenhouse. Thus the Stojanovic family will be able to use the greenhouse all year long.

During the last visit, we noticed that the family commenced building the floor of the house. The roof is being covered with old tiles, and the floor needs an isolation and inner works. Instead of the usual isolation, Goran wants to place isolation panels, used in refrigerator cars. Bearing in mind that they have already started to improve what the organization provided them, we believe that they will continue to do that, so we decided to prepare the money for the panels. The money which would have to set aside for the panels, the family can use to equip the inner side of the house, and thus fully resolve their housing. Long-term, the family plans to build more greenhouses and buy goats. We use this opportunity to thank Mile Gosnjic and other friends from the Agriculturist Association Moba, which have helped us by giving the advices, and without whom the selection of the greenhouse would be more difficult. We also thank all the donors, without whose trust and support we wouldn't be able to help this family.

NEW BATHROOM FOR FAMILY TODOROVIC

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs visited family Todorovic from the village Vodice near Smederevska Palanka on Sunday, December 16. After the first visit in October, the organization has provided two new double-decker beds for the children (46,000 dinars), isolation material for part of the house and material for building a bathroom (162,000 dinars), which Ratko, father of the family, managed to equip himself.

Very difficult conditions in which Njegos (12), Jovana (10), Jovan (8), Luka (6), Stefan (5), their parents Ratko and Zemka and Ratko's sick mother Dobrila live, forced the organization to help this family in several occasions, so that they could stand on their feet, and manage to provide the necessary for living. The first part of the help consisted in getting two new double-decker beds for the youngest.

Thanks to the dedication of Ratko and his friends, the bathroom is finished, and the children will be able to use it like their peers in Serbia. The help to the family is going to be continued in the next period. The family needs a fridge and an isolation material for second part of the house. We agreed with the parents to get them a cow so that the children could have fresh milk every day, or a calf. The Charity organization Serbs for Serbs use this opportunity to appeal to Serbian people worldwide to send direct help to family Todorovic prior to Christmas, in order to reduce their debts for electricity and utilities, which has grown over 80,000 dinars. For the direct contact with the family, e-mail us to [email protected].

DELIVERY OF THE REMAINING AID IN KRAJINA

Upon the completion of our joint visit and aid for Serbian families in Krajina which we completed in September, happily we can report that in the last few days the aid action was fully completed with the final delivery of all purchased materials as aid for the families we visited.

The words of gratitude directed to our donors and organization members from the families helped were additional motivators for us to continue to work even harder to help families all over the Krajina region with our commitment to improve the quality of life for the returning families and provide a better tomorrow for their children. …………………………………………………………...

ADDITIONAL PACKAGE OF BOOKS FOR KUCEVISTE

A friend of the organization and our regular donor Mr. Bane, helped in delivering a new package of books to the Serbian cultural center Vuk Karadzic from Kuceviste in Skopje Montenegro. A rich collection of books has been completed with approximately 50 books in national history and literature. We use this opportunity to convey greetings and gratitude of the youngest members of the library and other members of the cultural center. In cooperation with our regular donors we continue with our humble project of equipping the library in the forthcoming year. …………………………………………………………...

HELP FOR THE JESIC FAMILY DURING WINTER

Representatives of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs sent on Saturday, December 8, help to the youngest members of the eight-member family Jesic from Prijepolje: 3 pairs of shoes, 3 jackets and medicines. We hope that this kind of donation, in total value of 11,350 dinars will help the children get through the cold winter days.

We thank again our friends from Austria – Nikola A. and Ivana P. who recently donated 100 EUR, with the aim of helping this family.

We move on, no surrender! …………………………………………………………...

SFS VISITING FAMILIES IN BELGRADE

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs visited on Sunday, December 16, two families in Belgrade, family Markovic from Zemun and family Radosavljevic from Borca. In each of the family there are five children. The organization used the opportunity to deliver a package of groceries in the amount of 5,227 dinars to family Markovic. The visit to the Radosavljevic family aimed at getting to know the conditions under which they live, in order to help the family. Family Markovic from Zemun lives in extremely difficult conditions. The walls of the house are moist, and the family barely manages to meet its needs. Parents Nikoleta (37) and Mirko (40) are unemployed, and their only income consists of the child benefit in the amount of 10,000 dinars. Children Petar (18), Deni (15), who has cerebral palsy, Danijel (13), Danijela (12) and Teodora (6) don't have enough conditions for going to school and having a normal childhood. However, rugby club Partizan enabled the children to train, and they have won several medals, although their parents cannot provide the money for the trainings. The family is renting an apartment in Zemun. The owner of the house is not charging them the rent, but they will have to leave the house at the spring. Until three years ago, Mirko was working, but he had an accident on his job. He was a victim of the robbery, during which he received hard injuries. Among other things, his hearing was damaged, which made him almost incapable of work. He also has a diabetes, but he doesn't have sufficient money for the therapy. Nikoleta also can't find a job. They don't have the computer, although the oldest son attends the Polytehnic school, and he needs a computer.

The second family we visited has five minor children – Natasa (9), who is attending special school for the children with damaged hearing, Slavisa (9), an adopted son of the family, Bogdan (6), and twins Arsenije and Mladen (2). Family Radosavljevic also lives in a rented apartment, and their income comes from a small workshop which is placed in their house. Maja (42) and Branko (47) are hard working and creative people who are producing souvenirs and embroidery on flags, towels etc. Their firm, apart from the child benefit in the amount of 8,900 dinars, brings income. They have a lot of ideas, but not enough means to realize them.
