Ambitions

Our mission The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations. Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid. Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty. How do we define “terrible poverty”? Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living. Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from social-dependable government programs. Indirectly, we want to affect on birth rate of Serbian people that has been in great decline in last 20 years. What are our long term goals? • family is ready to support itself daily and

manage to pay all required expenses and bills;

• their children are encouraged to continue with school and raising their own family;

• our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families;

• our organization is satisfied with the results; • family is ready in the future to become our

donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help.

Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.

SFS HELP DELIVERED AT NOVO BRDO

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs within the Vidovdan action on Kosovo and Metohija provided 25 sheep for five families from the municipality Novo Brdo (Dragan Perić, Slañan Simjonović, Dragan Simjonović, Živojin Kostić and Dragan Simić) in the total amount of 2,000 EUR. We must emphasize that part of the money was provided on the charity concert in London, held at the end of June 2012. The sheep were delivered to the families thanks to our friends from the Eparchy Charity organization Mother of nine Jugović from Gračanica, who also participated in the action with their contribution.

This common action represents the beginning of a great project, aiming at the development of the animal husbandry in the municipality Novo Brdo, which is about to be realized under the auspices of the Charity organization Mother of nine Jugović.

We would like to thank again the friends from London and the Eparchy Charity organization Mother of nine Jugović! …………………………………………………………...

JOINT HELP FOR THE FAMILIES ON KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

On January this year, the representatives of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs from the United States and Serbia conducted big Christmas action on Kosovo and Metohija. We helped a great number of families, donating them the furniture, poultry, medicine and groceries. We agreed with the store “Si” from Gračanica, in which we bought part of the goods, to pay in several installments. In August we paid the last installment for the household appliances (refrigerators, washing machines and firewood stoves) in the amount of 238,000 dinars. We would like to thank again the store “Si” from Gračanica for supporting us in this important action. No surrender!

TOGETHER FOR FAMILY VUKAŠINOVIĆ

Family Vukašinović from Podgrab (municipality Pale) is having very difficult time since their father and husband suddenly died. His wife left with six young children. They were living in a ruined house with sick mother-in-law and a grandmother, but they received a new house without things. Due to the lack of money and fertile land, they begun starving. The mother was ready to give away the youngest children: twins Nemanja and Nikola, and Marko who is only two months old. We found out about the situation, so we helped and bought the necessary equipment for the babies and elementary groceries.

Dragana (10) was at the doorstep, holding Marko, joyful because of the guests. We provided help in the amount of 360 KM, but we felt we should help them again, so we promised to come back soon.

Many people offered their help, and in a few days we managed to get the baby carriage, crib, sheet, bedclothes and footwear for the children. The children were happy to see us, and we donated the collected things, so that they could enjoy their childhood, knowing that someone thinks about them.

We thank to all the people of good will, and wish them all the best. May God help us!

On Saturday, August 18, the representatives of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs visited families Balović and Kostić in the Raška area, on the mountain Rogozna. Our representatives met the workers who are building the Balović house, and made sure that the sixth phase of the works – setting the windows and doors, roof material, rendering and painting – for which we paid 1,805 EUR, is being successfully realized. We also paid for the costs of the engagement of the workers in the amount of 975 EUR. Thanks to our branch from the USA and the friends from Canada, the Balović children received the soccer ball, toys, barbies, sweets, school backpack and school equipment. After the liturgy in the monastery ðurñevi Stupovi, where we spent the night, we went to Rogozna and visited the family Balović.

The workers were setting the doors and windows. The rendering will soon be over, and we agreed to build the chimney, setting the gutters and floor. They built the road to the well from which they will pump the water. The asphalt needs to be cut in order to get the water. Although we have the permission to do that, but we are still searching the machine which is necessary to cut the asphalt.

The children are very happy about the building of the house. They already made an agreement about sharing of

the rooms, and we made sure that the house in which they live now is being ruined. After the agreement with the workers, and playing with the children, we visited the family Kostić which is nearby.

We wanted to build a bathroom for the family Kostić, but the house is in a bad condition, so the workers advised us not to commence that project. Therefore, it still remains unknown how to help this family. They lost their cattle because of the wolfs in the amount of 2,000 EUR. Father Rade is trying to provide everything his family needs, but he is also helping others – he donated a lamb to the family Balović when the ground of the house is being set.

Large families in the Raška area are having difficult times, many of them need help, but we hope that people will answer to our appeals and join the actions of help in order to provide more beautiful childhood and more quality life. Report: Miloš Golić, Serbia

STABLE FOR THE FAMILY KOMATINA IN RAŠKA AREA

The Charity organization Serbs for Serbs helped the eight-member family Komatina from the village Radaljice in the outskirts of Novi Pazar by donating the material for building the stable, in the amount of 99,200 dinars. Until now, our organization has helped this family various times, by providing: bathroom, cattle (a cow, lambs), groceries, hygiene etc. We consider that building of a stable will increase the cattle fund of the Komatina family, and thus improve the quality of their lives.

VC Stari Ras received support of the prominent volleyball names such as: Vanja Grbić, Zoran Terzić, Duško Nikolić, Nikola Kovačević, Vojislav Škorić, Mladen Majdak, Mladen Matijašević…

The coach of the club said that the club started his activities in June 2012, and thanks to the great response of the youth, there are 150 attendants. The focus is on the pedagogical, intelectual and tehnical progress and specialization of the young talents. This event represented the opportunity to show all the potential. The coach emphasized that the event was a solid ground for further work, but there are new challenges and expectations. Marko Bulat was singing, while KUD Frula from Raška and the Society of the young artists Ras showed their skills. The reception was satisfying, and thanks to the municipality Novi Pazar and the Volleyball Association of Serbia, the VC Stari Ras was able to popularize and increase the interest for volleyball in the area.

BOOKS FOR THE LIBRARY IN BRŠADIN

With the help of the friends of the organization from Belgrade and Vukovar, we successfully commenced another mini project of equipping the school libraries. A month ago, we received a request for help in equipping the local school library in the village Bršadin near Vukovar. The first and for now only elementary school built for the Serbian national minority in Croatia is being attended by 90 pupils from the first until the eight grade. A school library didn't have suitable literature, there were only a dozen books. Therefore, we sent about 300 books. We sent mostly the books from the Serbian literature, history, and a few textbooks. The help arrived just before the beginning of a school year.

The children and local teachers are very grateful to us. Therefore we continue with the collection of the books, and we hope that the books will help educate the children.

We use this opportunity to thank to Mr. Bane and his friends who supported and helped this action. We also call upon the people to join this humble, but very important project, by the donation of suitable books. CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE!
