Introduction

This End-of-Life (EOL) notice involves the Manufacture Discontinue (MD) and EOL of the Services

Edge Router (SER) 5500 CMC3 card with a 40 GB Hard Drive (NTJT45BA). This card will reachMD and EOL as a result of component lifecycle changes in particular to the Hard Drive (HD) where

the new HD improves capacity to 80 GB and increase memory cache.

Definitions

End of Life Definition This notice serves as formal communication of Nortels intent to end the life of

the product(s) noted. No further support will be provided when the EOL timeline is reached. Emergency

recovery and/or upgrades may be performed in accordance with customer specific service plans or upgrade

agreements as negotiated prior to EOL.

Manufacture Discontinue and Last Time Buy Definition As part of ending the life of hardware

elements this notice serves as a formal communication of Nortels intent to both Manufacture Discontinue

(MD) and offer a Last Time Buy (LTB) date for the product(s) noted. For the time between MD/LTB and

EOL emergency recovery and/or upgrades may be performed in accordance with customer specific service

plans or upgrade agreements as negotiated prior to MD/LTB.

As part of this announcement we MD and EOL the CMC3 NTJT45BA card only. There is no impact on

the CMC 1G (NTJT22DA). The NTJT45CA is already available and shipping.

Software Dependencies

The CMC3 was introduced in SER5500 iSOS Release 5 this is minimum software. Both CMC3 cards are

supported in all available releases including iSOS Release 7.x. There are no other software dependencies.

Alternative/Replacement Products/Solutions

Replacement products are available as per table above with software dependencies as outlined.

Please note that a new CMC3 with an 80 GB HD can be used in the same system as an older CMC3 with

40 GB HD.
