    Presidency Message

What a blessing Relief Society is! There is no otherorganization within the church that can do so much good for somany women, and, for which so many women can do so muchgood for the world. We live in challenging times and our attention isdrawn in many directions. Our focus should always remain on theSavior and His teachings. We should seek to follow the path Heleft for us, and in doing so we will be blessed and strengthened andable to accomplish all we need to do in this life so that we, in turn,

can bless and strengthen others.Marvin J. Ashton said, If we could look into each others hearts

and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think wewould treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

Sisters, I challenge each of us to look into each others heartsthe way the Savior looks into ours. We should seek to lighten eachothers burdens, to offer a listening hear, an understanding heart, and be non-judgmental in offering our hands in friendship. Bydoing this we truly can be sisters in Zion.

u A NEW MONTH!!!!! Make yourappointments today!

u This Months message is: SELF RELIANCE

Self-reliance is the ability, commitment, and effort

to provide for the spiritual and temporal well-being

of ourselves and of our families. As we learn and

apply the principles of self-reliance in our homes

and communities, we have opportunities to care for

the poor and needy and to help others become

self-reliant so they can endure times of adversity.

We have the privilege and duty to use our agency

to become self-reliant spiritually and temporally.

Speaking of spiritual self-reliance and our

dependence on Heavenly Father, Elder Robert D.

Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has

taught: We become converted and spiritually self-

reliant as we prayerfully live our covenants

through worthily partaking of the sacrament, being

worthy of a temple recommend, and sacrificing to

    serve others. (Ensign, September 2013)

    The 10th

Ward Relief Society Theme for 2013 is: Drawing Closer to Christ.

Criticizing, self-centeredness, and pettiness are all tools of the devil. Exercise yourstrength against Satan by supporting leaders, do the things you are asked to do,and treat others as you would want to be treated. Taking on these traits will helpyou to become more like Christ and bless you daily with His spirit.
