10 SPORTS The 90th season of the National Football League has kicked off. The NFL Preseason was a great way to see how the teams would be in the regular season, which started on September 10. The preseason wasn’t a good start for the Panthers, with a record of 0-4. The Panthers’ first game in the preseason was against the Giants, a team expected to be great this year. The Panthers fought hard but lost 17-24. The Panthers’ second game was against the Dolphins; this year the Dolphins are expected to have a great team. The Dolphins won the game 17-27. Again, in week three of the preseason, the Panthers lost to the Baltimore Ravens 17-13. In week four, the Panthers went up against the Steelers. The Steelers were favored to win, and they did 21-10. Week one is over in the NFL regular season; this week was a good way to show which teams would be excellent and which teams would be awful. First off, the Panthers lost their first regular season game against the Eagles 38-10. During the game, Donovan McNabb of the Eagles broke a rib after he made a touchdown. The Steelers barely beat the Tennessee Titans 10-13. The Seattle Seahawks beat the St. Louis Rams by a long shot with a score of 0-28. The Giants, a top rated team, beat the Redskins 17-23. The teams predicted to not have high-quality teams lost in week one. Other games in week one were the Jets at the Texans; the Jets won 24-7. Another game was the Cardinals vs. the 49ers; the 49ers won that game 20-16. Then at the end of week one, the Patriots and the Bills faced off; the Patriots were trailing the Bills 24- 13. Then after 2 touchdowns in less than five minutes, the Patriots won the game 25-24. Tom Brady, with the Patriots, is expected to dominate the season, along with the Steelers and the Giants. Michael Vick is back with the Eagles and played in week 3 of the regular season. The Carolina Panthers are expected to be okay this season if Jake Delhomme can pull off a few first-class games. Teams predicted to have bad records during the regular season are the Raiders, Lions, Chiefs, and Browns. This NFL season is expected to be a good one. Who will make the Superbowl this year, and who will make the playoffs? Stay tuned this season to find out.
