The 7th grade Reading teachers brought their

classes to the library to learn how things work -

the VMS way! We watched a “flocabulary” video

about the role of the librarian, and then students

completed a map of the library before browsing

the collection and checking out books.

The VMS library shelves hold THOUSANDS of

books! But, are they what we want? Is our

collection current and relevant to our interests and

needs? Are there things that other libraries in the

district have that we don’t? The answer to all of

these questions is YES! Our collection is big and

well-developed. However, there are several titles

(in addition to new titles) that I will be adding over

the next several weeks, that I think would be

valuable additions to our library. So come in and

check out the “New Books” case, and see what’s

NEW!

One of the biggest challenges to being new to a

space is trying to figure out what you have.

During a week-long “clean-up” of the library, I

was able to re-organize, re-locate, and refresh

all areas of the facility. At least now I can find a stapler (or five staplers)!

This year’s Lone Star Books literally flew off of the shelves. However, eager readers need not be disappointed! This is a great opportunity to

access the DIGITAL LILBRARY!

allowing students to make an easy

transition from works of fiction to

works of non-fiction on a similar

topic.

“Book-to-Movie” This display encourages students to read the book that preceded

a favorite movie, allowing students to evaluate varied

interpretations of a work.
