GOAL, NRA, NSSF
Maine: Maine Gov. Paul LePage has signed a bill that will allow residents to carry a
concealed handgun without obtaining a permit. Maine will become the sixth state in the
country with such a policy. Supporters of the bill say permits are a burden on responsible gun
owners and don't prevent bad people from carrying firearms. The bill deeply divided Maine’s
law enforcement community. Maine State Police supported it, but many local law enforcement
agencies opposed it. Read the full article at www.wmtw.com.
NRA: For the second time in little more than a year, a federal appeals court Tuesday upheld a
controversial Florida law that restricts doctors from asking questions and recording information
about patients’ gun ownership. The 2-1 decision by a panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of
Appeals was a victory for the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights advocates and a
defeat for medical groups that argued, at least in part, that the law infringed on doctors’ First
Amendment rights. Dubbed the “docs vs. glocks” law, the measure includes a series of
restrictions on doctors and other health providers. As an example, it seeks to prevent
physicians from entering information about gun ownership into medical records if the
physicians know the information is not “relevant” to patients’ medical care or safety or to the
safety of other people. The full story is at www.nraila.org.
Airports: The Hill has reported that a House Democrat is introducing legislation to ban guns
in airport areas that are located before security checkpoints. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) said
the measure, which has been dubbed the Airport Security Act of 2015, would prevent anyone
other than police officers from carrying guns in areas of airports that are located before
security checkpoints, even if they have a license to carry concealed weapons. Transportation
Security Administration rules currently prohibit passengers from carrying guns beyond security
checkpoints in carry-on luggage, but some weapons can be packed into checked baggage if
they are unloaded and locked in cases. Full article at www.thehill.com.
Ohio: A 62-year-old Cincinnati man with a gun in each hand fired at four people – including a
1-year-old boy – before a civilian with a concealed carry permit returned fire and wounded the
shooter, cops told FOX19. The attack happened on July 26. Thomas McCary is being held
without bond on four counts of felonious assault. McCary was arguing with a woman around 8
p.m. Sunday night and, when the woman’s brother, Patrick Ewing, approached, McCary pulled
out a .38-caliber handgun and fired three shots at him, Cincinnati police said. Ewing didn’t get
hit, but he did get his own gun and returned fire, wounding McCary in the leg. McCary was
taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was arrested at 2:30 a.m. He
was treated, released. Full article at www.foxnews.com.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Indoor Range Status
Finally! The indoor range officially opened on Friday, July 24, 2015. Due to a lot of work by a
large number of volunteers, over many months, the range is now open to shooting. I will not
try to name the many people who worked to make this happen because I am sure that
someone would be missed. Thanks to everyone who helped or offered moral support.
A special thanks to the entire membership of Danvers Fish and Game Club who went without
their range for almost three years. Your patience is truly appreciated. It has been a long and
expensive process but the range is once again yours to use. It is now a place where you can
shoot without having to worry about air quality. Enjoy!!
On Sunday, August 23, 2015 there will be an open house celebration at your new range
from 11:00am to 2:00pm. You will have an opportunity to see the range and to ask questions
about the range. Hotdogs, soda and cake will be served. Please drop by if you have a chance.
New Release and Indemnity Agreement Forms
In today’s times liability issues are ever present. The club has entered into new insurance
agreements with expanded coverage to help protect the club in the event that we are sued. I
have had many discussions with our new insurance company, the board of directors and
Attorney Edward George concerning other things that we could do to help protect the club
including the drafting of two new release forms that identify and warn of hazards that might be
encountered at the club as part of the language in the release document. There are two forms.
One form is for all minors using our facilities and it must be completed by a parent or guardian.
The other form is to be completed by all new members when they join the club and by anyone
who uses our facilities as a guest. The board of directors directed that these forms are to be
used at all of our ranges beginning July 1, 2015. Please make sure that any guests or minors
that accompany you to the club complete the required release and indemnity agreements.
Thanks.
Committees
During the last year I have had the good fortune to be supported by a large group of individuals
who volunteered to help make positive changes at Danvers Fish and game Club. One
committee helped to eliminate several committees that were no longer needed and combined
other committees. Their efforts resulted in the creation of the IT Committee as a standing
committee. Another group volunteered to help streamline the membership process at the club
and bring the membership committee functions back on site. There were three members who
came forward to offer their services to help form a finance committee at the club that will help
us manage our money effectively after our long term treasurer John Stanchfield steps down
next year.
The committees that run our ranges have done an outstanding job and every range is to be
complimented. The chairmen of the committees have all worked hard with their teams to keep
the ranges open and functioning or to solve problems that kept the range from being utilized.
The following people served on one or more committees: R. D’Ambrsio, W. Appel B. Campilio,
C. Camora, S. Chaet, E. Cakounes, D. Gentile, D. Lapointe, G. Motta, J. Princi, P. Richardson,
J. Reynolds, C. Rudolph, R. Slane, W. Swift, J., R. Tozier, Vasapoli and C. Zullo. My apologies
if I missed anyone.
Thank You All for your hard work and dedication to our club!!!
Board of Directors
The officers and directors of the club have supported me for the past year. We have certainly
not always seen things the same way but we have always been able to reach consensus on
issues important to the club. I wish to thank all of them for their help, guidance and
understanding. I couldn’t have accomplished what I wanted to without their help. Thanks!!

Members of Danvers Fish and Game Club
Thank you!!!! for giving me the opportunity to serve you. It has truly been an honor and a
pleasure. I promise to stay involved and hopefully continue to be able to help the club move
forward in the years to come.

PIN RANGE
After years of discussions, months of planning and weeks of prep work the Pin Range has a
new roof and an addition.
Thanks to some very dedicated individuals we were able to save a substantial amount of
money and accomplish more than we originally set out to do. Tom Potter and John Sironi
worked two consecutive weeks to prep the range and the two 40' pieces of steel, in addition to
removing half of the poles that made up the original roof. By doing this we were able to divert
the excavator to the 22 caliber range to dig out the pit and set the 12 cement blocks that make
the wall.
Bryan Campilio made a huge score by contracting Matt @ EKB Equipment and negotiating a
price that kept us within budget. Anyone needing excavation work or tree removals feel free to
contact Matt Bergeron @ 978-360-4357 or [email protected] and tell him
Bryan@DF&G recommended him.
A huge thank you to Luiz Quaresma who was our general contractor. He kept the project
moving forward. Luiz is the owner of LQ Contracting and if you have any carpentry work that
needs to be done, I would recommend Luiz. Come by the Pin Range and see what he
accomplished. For a free estimate contact Luiz @ 978-479-0016
All the work, except for the excavation was done by club members who gave up their Saturday
and Sunday improve DF&G. Thank you to Jim the butcher, Aufiero, Eric Strimbeck, Kevin
Cushman, Oleg Boulanov, Scott Murray, Charlie Rudolph, Philip Mancuso and Jamie Wicks.
Without members like these this project would not have happen or if it did the cost would have
been much more then what it was.
The 22 cal range (right side) is not open as yet. We have some digging and grading to do but
we hope to have it open within the month and could be open before you read this.
As a reminder, guests still need to sign the new release forms and pay the $10 guest fee.
Please come with the correct change because we do not make change at the range. If we
happen to have change because someone already paid, we will gladly accommodate you.
As always your questions, comments and concerns mean a lot to me. My wife always tells me
"you can't fix what you don't know is broken." Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
There will be a 25 Steel Match on Sunday September 13th at 12:00pm. $5 a gun. Stock,
Open and Revolver class. 10 round mag limit, unlimited mags. This will be a timed event. Any
questions call Bryan @ 978-828-7387
Hope to see you at the Pin Range
Chris Zullo, Bryan Campilio

Junior Division
The Indoor range now being open, Junior Division rifle program resumes on Friday Sept. 11th.
On that day, 6:30 PM, we will be registering returning members and new students for the NRA
Basic Rifle Course. New students must be at least 12 years old. Parent or guardian sponsor
does not have to be a DF&GC member. We encourage sponsors to volunteer and be involved.
On the next two Fridays, 9/18 and 9/25, registration will continue and mandatory attendance
for new shooters orientation with their sponsor/parent will be on Sept. 25th at 6:30 PM in the
main hall. The instruction will commence on Oct. 4th and last approximately ten weeks.
Returning Junior Division members will be invited to shoot on Sept. 18 and every Friday
through June of 2016. The cost for the program, including instruction, use of rifles and
equipment is $65/member, payable by check or money order to DF&GC. Upon successful
completion of the course, new members can participate in the regular four-position shooting
schedule and will be eligible for their MA State Police F.I.D. Card certificate. During regular
Friday sessions, members are expected to pay $.50/target including provided ammunition and
to retain their scored targets for record of advancement. For further info contact the Club at
978-774-9870.
Proposed Bylaw Change
There will be a proposed bylaw change at the September General Meeting. This change will
create a Finance Committee and Revisions to the Treasure duties. Please make an effort to
attend so we can make these necessary changes.

This is required by the club and it is possible that you may need to show your card t to
vote at the membership meeting. Thanks for your cooperation.
Membership
Membership renewal is going smoothly but we still have a few members that have not sent in
their renewal forms. Remember EVEN IF YOU ARE A LIFE MEMBER AND PAY NO DUES
YOU MUST RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP YEARLY!!!!! That being said, over 135 “Life
Members” have not returned their information. Quite a few mailings have been returned to the
club as undeliverable by the Post Office, and we need your info to be current.
Remember late fees have been in effect since July 1st. If you haven’t yet paid your
2015/2016 club dues you now owe a $10.00 late fee!!!
You must have a current dues card to use the ranges, so don’t be embarrassed when you
come down for a fun day at the range with an EXPIRED membership card. If you haven’t done
so RENEW NOW!!!!
