September 2018 the Cedar Chips Pastor’s Corner September is here already? Autumn comes. Summer goes. It just dawned on me that I had such an eventful summer and did not get a chance to take a vacation to get away somewhere for a few days and relax. I have been enjoying special events and activi- ties at church, Children’s Summer Fun & Friends, Guatemala mission trip, etc. There were God’s stories when meeting and seeing the people in church and in the community. There were God’s stories when interacting with the kids at the Wednesday programs. There were God’s stories prepar- ing myself for the Guatemala trip. There were God’s stories while spending time in Guatemala. There were God’s stories having my niece and her husband visiting me for a week. There were God’s stories to weep and to laugh with family and friends. There were God stories in my days in and days out rou- tines every day between the house and the church. God was with me. I enjoy my morning having coffee and watching the birds having their breakfast on the feeders. They made me smile. I thank God for all things big and small I am blessed with. Thought I would drive my 2007 Suzuki till I went to a nursing home but the Suzuki went to a nursing home before I did. Too many trips to the garage to keep it running. The last straw was that I was stranded on a high heat hot day (better than in a blizzard snowy day though) on Hiroshima Day wait- ing for AAA tow truck because the engine went ka-poop. I bit my tongue and got me a 2015 Ford Escape. Yeah, I don’t have time for breakdowns. So I have got me a reliable vehicle as a 30/30 birthday gift for myself. Only it came with payments. Dah! God blesses me more than I deserve. I am humbled to be called a servant of God. May God have all honor and glory. Let’s walk on together with hope, joy, love, and faith. We live with God’s abundant grace and steadfast love. God is faithful. “Surely, God is my help- er; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” Psalm 54: 4. “God is Good! Corner

September is here already? Autumn comes. Summer goes. It just dawned on me that I had such an eventful summer and did not get a chance to take a vacation to get away somewhere for a few days and relax. I have been enjoying special events and activi-ties at church, Children’s Summer Fun & Friends, Guatemala mission trip, etc. There were God’s stories when meeting and seeing the people in church and in the community. There were God’s stories when interacting with the kids at the Wednesday programs. There were God’s stories prepar-ing myself for the Guatemala trip. There were God’s stories while spending time in Guatemala. There were God’s stories having my niece and her husband visiting me for a week. There were God’s stories to weep and to laugh with family and friends. There were God stories in my days in and days out rou-tines every day between the house and the church. The last straw was that I was stranded on a high heat hot day (better than in a blizzard snowy day though) on Hiroshima Day wait-ing for AAA tow truck because the engine went ka-poop. I bit my tongue and got me a 2015 Ford Escape. Yeah, I don’t have time

for breakdowns. “Surely, God is my help-er; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” Psalm 54: 4. “God is Good! Life is Precious!”

We give thanks that you will lead us in the minis-try of Christian education. We offer you our pledge of support. As you teach your students, may all be open to God’s truth and be inspired to live the Christian life as fully as possible. We ap-preciate greatly the time and effort you expend as teachers of our church family. May God grant you strength and joy in your important role.

Stewards' of God’s Gifts

"You may say to yourself, " My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today." - Deuteronomy 8: 17-18 (NIV)

All that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. Think of your friends and family, your tal-ents, skills and abilities, your treasures – these are all gifts from God. As God's children, we aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely “Stewards” of the gifts God has blessed us with.

Our Firm Foundation

During his childhood on the Atlantic Coast, Gregory Elder devoted much time to creating elaborate sandcastles. “Whole cities would ap-pear beneath my hands,” he writes. One year, when bullies repeatedly crushed his handiwork, Elder finally placed large rocks and concrete chunks at the base of his kingdoms. The return-ing bare-footed thugs soon learned a lesson. Many people consider today’s church under attack from secularism, heresies and sin, Elder writes. “They forget that the church is built upon a Rock (Matthew 16:18), over which the gates of hell itself shall not prevail.”
