Weekly Schedule:

The schedule for the season has changed again (our deepest apologies!!).

This is to accommodate changes made by

Gondolania Managment

There will be a weekly rotation on Saturdays of the three divisions Vipers, Sa-

lukis and Falcons. The new schedule and seasons fees have already been up-

dated on the QMIHA website (qataricehockey.com). The Saturday rotation

will continue to be updated every Sunday during the season with the sched-

ule for the coming week.

Registration Fees

The fees for the season has

Executive Meetings

The Executive Committee meets

once a month to discuss updates,

upcoming events and other

related matters. Meetings are

held the Al Jazeera 2 clubhouse

every third Friday of the month,

from 1-3pm. Meeting are usually

an hour long.

Please note Executive Committee

Meetings are open to all parents,

coaches and players who would

like to attend.

meetings are: Sept 23rd, Oct

21st, Nov 18th and Dec 9th

Used Equipment Sale

There will be a used equipment sale

on Friday, September 23rd from

7:00AM – approximately 9:30AM

and also on Saturday, September

24th from 6:00AM – approximately

10:00AM. The QMIHA will have a

table of used gear for sale that has

been donated to the league.

you would like to sell, please

above dates and times. Please

remember that you will be re-

sponsible for selling your own

gear.

Tournaments:

Please note that for tournaments,

divisions will still be separated by

age.

The Quad City group meets once

a year to determine the tourna-

ment schedule for the

season between the four cities.

Please note that this schedule is

tentative and families are asked

to refrain from

booking flights and hotels until

each tournament is confirmed

Player Movement

Player movement happens three

times a year, the first few weeks

of the season, in January and be-

fore Spring Hockey. In a larger

hockey program we would be

able to accommodate all players

regardless of their ability and ex-

perience within their own age di-

vision by having A, B, C etc levels

within each division. However,

with over 140 players, one sheet

of ice and 5 divisions as well as a

diverse player pool, this is not

possible for our league. The way

we deal with this is to place play-

ers in the division to which they

are best suited to allow for player

development and maximum en-

joyment of the game for every-

one. Coaches are now in the pro-

cess of evaluating players to en-

sure they are placed in the best

possible division. Player evalua-

tion is carried out by multiple

coaches in consultation with the

QMIHA Executive, no one coach is

responsible for moving a player.

Hockey in the ‘Q’ Other Items:

Parents MUST remain at the

rink during practice and game

times or designate another

adult to be responsible for your

child. The coaches have 30+

kids on the ice and will need

your help in the event of an

emergency

Please have your hockey

player at the rink in time to be

dressed and ready to go on the

ice on time. When we start

games on Saturday, coaches ask

for players to be dressed and on

the bench 15 minutes before

the start of the game so they

can make the game line up.

Please ensure that your

hockey player has all the re-

quired safety equipment includ-

ing a neck guard. In addition,

please check your gear regularly

to ensure it is in good working

order. In particular keep an eye

on your helmet as screws can

become loose or go missing

This seasons QMIHA will be en-

forcing the use of a mouth

guard in the Saluki and Falcon

divisions. It is highly recom-

mended in Scorpion and Viper

divisions as well. As of the 1st

of October those players with-

out a mouth shield will not be

allowed to play.

We would like to remind you

that there is no changing along

the side of the rink at any

time. Please use the designat-

ed changing rooms and area at

the end of the rink. Also,

please do not leave any hockey

bags or personal belongings

along the side of the rink. This

creates a hazard for our players

entering and exiting the ice.

The executive members are

happy to talk with you at the

rink,

however please remember we

are volunteers and we are there

to watch our children. If you

approach with a topic of con-

cern you will be asked to also

send an email.

Hockey in the ‘Q’

Game Days

Due to the unique set up of the

Villagio arena with the bench and stands combined, during

games all parents are requested to remain in the stands and not

to stand along the bench and refrain from interacting with their

child.

The reason behind this request is, we want the kids to focus on

watching their teammates, listening to the coaches instructions

so they are receiving clear direction from one source only during

a game. Encouragement and congratulations can wait until after

the game. Parents who are unable to comply with this request

will be asked to leave the arena area.

We are very excited about our new season and

hope that every one has a safe and fun year!!
