Worship Service at 10:30 with a

A Prayer for our schools and kids… excerpt

from “Grace for Moms”

http://www.graceformoms.com/

The Bible says in James 1:5 that “if you need

wisdom, ask God and He will give it to you.” I

ask for wisdom for myself and for the

teachers, that we may both know the best

way to teach our children. I pray for the

leadership of the school, that they too would

walk in wisdom and grace.

I pray 1 Corinthians 2:16 “that my child has

the mind of Christ.” I ask not only that they

learn the essentials of academics but how to

apply them to life.

I ask that the Joy of the Lord would be my

child’s strength in all he does.

Prov. 27:17 says “As iron sharpens iron, so a

friend sharpens a friend.” I pray that they will

have high quality Godly friends in their life

that sharpens them into a better person.

I pray for your protection around the school,

students and teachers. Thank you for the

blessing of education.

In Jesus name, Amen

And he’s back!! This past Sunday night my family drove out to the

Wheatley River Hall and enjoyed an evening of music by the Christian band “Cousin Matty,” led by our very own Bruce MacAusland. They’ve been together for about a year and they did a great mix of songs, from the latest stuff by Matt Maher and Casting Crowns, to some classics by Rich Mullins, some of their own originals, and even a foot stompin’ rendition of “I Saw the Light.” Everyone there seemed to enjoy the night and were clapping and singing along the whole time. My son Simon was playing the drums on his legs and was fascinated by the electric guitar player, who in his words, “wiggled” a lot! It was refreshing to see a group of people just wanting to play worship songs together, have a blast doing it, and just hope that the people who come will be blessed and encouraged.

I also appreciated Bruce’s heart when he spoke in between some songs. In just a few words he would express how grateful he was to God for loving him. His past, like all of ours, has blemishes and decisions he wasn’t proud off. But our lives are not determined by our history and our past does not dictate who we are today. Because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross, our sin can be washed away and God’s love will continue to transform us from today onward.

King David was a man who had lots of issues with sin. Even though the Bible says that he was a man after God’s own heart, his own heart wrestled with the temptations we all face. Arrogance, greed, lust, David had a long track record. The only perfect Bible character was Jesus. But what makes David stand out was his willingness to lay himself down before his God and humbly seek forgiveness and guidance in his struggles. He continued to grow in his faith and we can see his heart in some of the Psalms he wrote.

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 42:1-6)

You past does not define you. Every single one of us has made mistakes. Bad decisions and choices that we are not proud of. Some people even believe that they have done so much, that their past is so dark, that God could never love them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Jesus Christ paid the price for all our sins. Not just the little ones. No matter where you come from or what you’ve done, no sin is too big for the blood of Jesus to cleanse and for God to forgive.

Matt’s Chat

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.” (Genesis 9:14-15)

HELP NEEDED! FOR THE COFFEE CORNER

We are looking for several teams of 2 persons, for example: (father & son, mother & daughters, husbands and wives; 2 friends or any combination thereof). Each team looks after the coffee corner for 1 month. It’s a great way to train young people for future work at the coffee shops. If we could find 2 more teams – it would mean that each team would serve 2 months in the year. If we could find 8 more teams – each team would serve 1 month per year. Time Commitment: Arrive 20 minutes early (the coffee machine is on a timer and warmed up ready for coffee to be made. Ensure there is milk, cream and sugar, tea and juice boxes for each week. Clean-up may take approximately 10-15 minutes. Please let the church office know if you would be willing to serve in this way. We do provide training.

The Oasis Road Travel Guide for the Book of Revelation

The book of Revelation completes the inspired Scriptures by revealing the plan of God for his children in the end times and in eternity. It describes with vivid symbols and exciting action what will happen when Jesus the Messiah comes again. These symbols are like code words designed to hide the message from hostile rulers but reveal the true meaning to faithful disciples. It is challenging to understand but the opening verses promise a blessing to anyone who will read its message and take it to heart (1:3). The very first statement in this book tells us it is a revelation that God gave to Jesus who then gave it to his servant John in order to show all of the Lord's servants what must take place speedily (1:1). Revelation was written by the apostle John while he was on the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea. Most scholars believe this was around the year 95 AD during the reign of Domitian who was the first Roman emperor to insist that people in every part of his empire acknowledge him as "Lord and God". Patmos was a prison colony where the Romans sent the most dangerous criminals to do hard labor in its mines and rock quarries. The apostle John was a very old man by this time but the Romans regarded him as dangerous to their authority as rulers because of his widespread influence as the last of the apostles of Jesus. Revelation begins with a vision that shows us the majestic power and glory of Jesus as he appeared to John (1:12-16). Jesus identifies himself in words that should give us encouragement and hope for the future (1:17-18) no matter how dangerous things may become in this world. He also gives us an outline of what he is going to reveal (1:19). This includes what John had already seen (chapter 1); what was currently happening among the churches (chapters 2-3); and events that would happen later in the future (chapters 4-22). A dramatic scene in heaven is described (chapters 4-5) which reveals the glory of God on his throne and the authority of Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God, who appears first as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and then as a Lamb who was slain (5:5-6). He alone is worthy to take the scroll from God's right hand and then open its seven seals to reveal a series of catastrophic events as the wrath of God is poured out on a world in rebellion against the One who sits on the throne and the Lamb (6:16-17). This is followed by a series of 7 trumpets and then a series of 7 bowls which also reveal more judgements from God against rebellious mankind (9:20-21; 16:9-11). A very evil character known as the beast is their leader (13:1-18). But Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God, will lead the armies of heaven back to earth and defeat the beast and his allies (19:11-21). Jesus will rule for 1,000 years and believers will reign with him (20:1-6). After the final judgement (20:11-15) God will create a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain (21:1-4). God gives us his solemn promise that this will certainly happen by testifying: "He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true" (21:5; NIV). Amen! Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
