August has been an incredible month with prospective companies stopping by the Chamber to gather demo-graphic information and looking at locating in Lockhart. We are working closely with the City to share ideas and concerns as we keep our eyes on what is evidently com-ing our way. I believe we are on the verge of some real growth. Even our school district enrollment is up 4% from the end of school last year. Are you and your busi-ness ready these new opportunities? Businesses new to town and established in our commu-nity continue to join the Chamber as they see the value in a Chamber membership. Just check out the list to the right of newly approved members. Consumers who are told that a business is a Chamber member are 51% more likely to be highly aware of the business and 57% more likely to think positively of it local reputation. Also, con-sumers are 63% more likely to buy goods and services in the future from a company they know is a member of the local Chamber. The Board of Directors wants to continue to build YOUR chamber and will make plans for 2014 with a Retreat on October 5th. If you have input or sug-gestions, please let us know at the office. Speaking of the office, our sweet Lauren Carter has re-signed to go and teach Pre-K. She has done a tremendous job over the last 2 years, stepped up this spring during our transition time and will be greatly missed. Lauren has promised to return next May to help with Chisholm Trail Roundup. We have some temporary help for the next two weeks so please be patience with your request and we will get back with you as soon as possible. We will have someone in place by the middle of September and intro-duce that person in our next newsletter and on the web-site. Keep checking our Chamber website calendar for upcom-ing community events. The Taste of Lockhart Cultures is this month, we are planning candidate forums and a membership appreciation event in October and before long Banquet information will be posted. Of course there are the standing meetings, fundraisers to attend (see in-serts) and the productions at the Gaslight-Baker Theater. There is a lot to do and enjoy in our community, so take full advantage of the beautiful life we have in Lockhart! Becki Womble President/CEO

Evenings with the Songwriter

Hosted by Fletcher Clark, Evenings with the Songwriter are free to the public as these artists present the art and craft of their songwriting. Supported by Friends of the Song, Todd Blomerth and Patti Payne. Featured artist for month is Butch Morgan.
