PASTOR’S COLUMNDear Parish Family: Twenty years ago this weekend our Churches were filled with tearful and frightened people who, in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11 had one question on their faces: “Why?” While there really is no clear answer, we must agree that evil seems to beget evil and feels overwhelming. Evils come in many forms and have various causes. Today’s gospel is the turning point of the Gospel of Mark. It was time for Jesus to make clear to his apostles his identity and what that implied. He was about to confront the ultimate result of evil and conquer it by his saving death and resurrection. We are still enduring a pandemic that has kept us isolated. We have learned new ways of communicating “virtually;” but they are no substitute for being “in person.” In two weeks, we plan to gather for a welcome back picnic and ministry fair. Our leaders will make every effort to keep us safe, but it is important that we be together. I hope to see many of you there on September 26! Follow the guidance elsewhere in this bulletin for more informa-tion and to sign-up!
