Welcome to Riverside. A pastor was appointed to serve a struggling church for a short season. The church planter who appointed the pastor to serve the struggling church knew his young colleague was weary. The church planter wrote to the pastor encouraging him to stay and fight the good fight. “Christ came into the world to save sinners,” the church planter wrote. “I’m proof...of someone who could never have made it apart from sheer mercy. And now [Christ] shows me off—evidence of his endless patience—to those who are right on the edge of trusting him forever.” The Apostle Paul wrote these words of encouragement to Tim-othy who was serving in Ephesus centuries ago. But the words are true for us today. As Christians we are all appointed to God’s service. When we become weary, we are empowered to continue to fight the good fight with humility and with thanks-giving, confident in the power of the gospel to turn people around—even sinners like us. In His service, Pastor Melanie
