Minutes of September Meeting3Minutes of Meeting Winnipesauke H.O.G. Chapter 2529

Meeting September, 11th 2011

Director: Rick Bassett called the meeting to order at 9:15 am. In recognition of 9/11 Judy read a poem about US

Marines and the pledge of allegiance was followed by god bless America. Rick had a note from Jack Carey, he is

happy to be home and thanked the chapter for our thoughts and prayers. Rick also advised the Butch Morrill’smother passed away, Butch was in Concord attending a 9/11 ceremony. New members & Guests; Steve & Joan

Sonay & Steve & Eva Hurst from Alton were present.

Secretary’s report: Motion to accept the minutes as written in last month’s newsletter.

Membership coordinator: Fran processed 13 renewals and 8 new memberships during the period following the

last chapter meeting. We are currently at 192 members. The drop is because of the April & May non-renewals. At

the end of September the June non-renewals will be removed. He welcomed new members; Carolyn Hodge, Jack

Hodge, George Maynard, Alfred Dwire, Silvino Pinto, Stephen Hurst, Dana Larmie & Dennis Miller.

Treasurer’s report: Saab read the report. There will now be a one page report to hand in to the dealership. They

will be sending a chapter Liaison to training to learn about how H.O.G. chapters work and how to keep members

interested in staying with the chapter.

Old Business: Rick met with the new director of the Concord chapter and they challenged us for bowling this

winter and also may race us when we go to Gunstock for tubing this year. If you have any other ideas for winter

activities let Judy know. Judy advised that we would not be doing the wine tasting trip as it is not cost effective but

she will look into doing a dinner at your own cost where they have wine tasting with dinner. Rick advised that the

website is set up so that all the officers can add or post comments on it. It was agreed that it is much better than

the old one. Sue advised that she took the chapter lap top to her IT person and he was able to do a memory up-

grade for only $29 and it is now running like new so we do not need to replace it at this time. He did all the work

at no charge and refused to take any money. It was agreed that we will purchase a $100 gift certificate for a local

bicycle shop that he likes and also to ask him if he can do a memory upgrade on the membership lap top.Merchandise: Sue advised that she all kinds of merchandise for sale, men’s long sleeve shirts, chapter shirts, mois-

ture wick shirts & ladies thermal hoodies. All the summer shirts are on sale today.

New Business: Rick advised that he spoke with Harts about the Harvest Supper and they have October 29th and

November 5th available. The Lobster Pound said they would not be able to accommodate our group. It was de-

cided that we will book Harts for November 5th. You will need to pay by the next meeting if you plan on attending

and you can give your money to Judy. Rick still needs to get the prices from Harts but it was agreed that the chap-

ter will pay a portion of the cost for members and non members will have to pay full price. The cost is normally

under $15 for members and $25 for non-members. Also please send your pictures to Rick so he can get the slide

show set up for the Harvest Supper. Rick was supposed to lead the ride on the 17 th to the Nubble lighthouse but

his kids gave him a gift certificate to the highland games so Saab will lead the ride. The ride will leave from thedealership at 9:15 and return at 2:00 for lunch at the dealership. Judy mentioned that she purchased the decora-

tions on sale last year for the festival of lights but there were no Christmas trees left. She will purchase a pre-lit tree

for the chapter to donate as we do every year.

Dealer News: Rick advised that Dan Matias and Ross are meeting with our sister chapter to go over H.O.G. regu-

lations. Technically you must be a dealership to even have a H.O.G. chapter and they are only retail sore but Ross

fought for them to keep their chapter. There will no longer be any rally in the valley it was never H.O.G. ap-

proved. Rick is working with their director to see how our chapter is run. Our motto is to ride and have fun. They

are having their 11th annual toy run on 9-18-11. The ride will leave from the Burger King in North Conway at

10:00 am and you need to bring unwrapped new toys.

. NH/VT Rally: The rally next year will be a rolling rally again. It will start at Seacoast then to Laconia and then

on to Loon. They are very excited to have us. They are already meeting with the chamber of commerce. Dan Ma-

tias put out a challenge for us to have something at the rally that no one else has. The numbers for the 5 state rally

versus the NH/VT rally were exactly the same. Our ride after the meeting today will go around the lake then to

Bob & Sue’s house for a cookout and we will leave at 10:30.

Being no further business a motion was made an accepted to adjourn at 10:00 am. Kathy Azotea

Great time had by all at the H.O.G cookout hosted by Bob and Sue. Big Thank you to them both.

Sabb’S cooking only set off the smoke alarm 50 times and the smoke confused the overhead door eye

and made the garage door go up and down. The smoke from his over thinking the cooking process.

It was a great time with great friends with great weather. We also went for Ice Cream at Johnsons and

managed not to be asked to leave for the second time. The laughter and stories once again

NOTES FROM YOUR EDITOR [email protected]

Our September chapter meeting happened to fall on 9/11 this year. We began the meeting with a moving tribute to those

that lost their lives that day and continue to do so to protect our country. We will never forget.

The after ride cookout at our house was a record—20+ bikes, 30+ hungry HOGS..and I do mean hungry. There were only 2

burgers left, 3 ears of corn out of 3 dozen, most of the hot dogs, 4 bags chips, cheese and crackers, yummy cookies and

spice cake all gone but the crumbs! Thank you all for coming to share the day, and contributing

to the eats! —yes..we made it to Johnsons ate ice cream and had a lot of laughs Upon our return

home, Bob and I had a ceremonial burning of the old picnic table. Good thing you were goneButch—the flames were..um...a tad high!!. Thanks for sharing a great afternoon with us!

In the Wind…

Our September meeting took place on 9-11. It is a day that hasgreat meaning for all of us. I think everyone remembers exactly

where they were at the time of the first plane crash into the tow-

ers, and is certainly a day I will never forget. Absorbed in our

busy lives and daily activities, it is a reminder that we are doing so

because many brave men and women are defending our freedom.

For this, I am grateful every day.

The ride after the meeting went a lot better than last year-when we only made it to Alton Bay be-fore the heavens opened up and caused an immediate detour to our house for a soggy cookout.

This year, the sun was out in full force. We took a nice ride around the big lake,,a ride you never

tire of. We had 20+ bikes arrive at our house for our annual Fall cookout. There were a lot of cu-

rious stares from my neighbors!

We enjoyed some great food, camaraderie, and fun. Some 35 or so chapter members ate up all the

cookout goodies, and then we rode down to Johnsons for ice cream. I don’t know where we put it

but we somehow managed.

It was a great day, and thanks to all who came and shared it with us. Greta did not eat her supper.

I think she had at least 6 hot dogs!

Condolences go out to two great friends. Both Butch Morrill and Paul Bergeron (owner of Ram-

blewood Cabins in Pittsburg) lost their mothers this past week. Our heartfelt thoughts are with

both families.

Bob
