Dear Candidate Re: Tips for reaching disabled voters With just weeks to go until the local elections you and your team will be working hard on the campaign trail to make sure all your voters turn out on May 3rd. One in five people in Wales is affected by either sight or hearing loss. Our charities – which campaign for and support people with sensory loss – have written the enclosed short guide to ensuring voters with sensory loss can get involved with the elections. In many wards these votes can make all the difference between winning and losing your seat. You will also ensure that voters with sensory loss can exercise their democratic rights and take full part in society by choosing elected representatives for their local authority. We would like to ensure that you are never put off helping disabled voters through lack of information. So our message this year is: don’t be afraid to ask disabled people how you can support them to participate in the election. Annwyl Ymgeisydd

Parthed: Cynghorion ynghylch cyrraedd etholwyr anabl

Mae’r etholiadau lleol yn prysur agosáu, ac mae’n siŵr y byddwch chi a’ch tîm yn gweithio’n galed yn ystod yr ymgyrch etholiadol i geisio sicrhau bod eich etholwyr i gyd yn troi allan i fwrw eu pleidlais ar 3 Mai.

Mewn llawer o wardiau, gall y pleidleisiau hyn fod yn gyfystyr â’r gwahaniaeth rhwng ennill a cholli eich sedd. Byddwch hefyd yn sicrhau bod etholwyr â nam ar eu synhwyrau’n gallu arfer eu hawliau democrataidd a chwarae rhan lawn yn y gymdeithas trwy ddewis aelodau etholedig ar gyfer eu hawdurdod lleol.

Hoffem sicrhau nad ydych byth yn colli cyfle i helpu etholwyr anabl oherwydd diffyg gwybodaeth. Felly, ein neges eleni yw: peidiwch ag ofni gofyn i bobl anabl sut y gallwch eu cynorthwyo i gymryd rhan yn yr etholiad.

Yr eiddoch yn gywir Wayne Lewis, Pennaeth Gweithrediadau, Sense Cymru Sarah Rochira, Cyfarwyddwr, RNIB Cymru Richard Williams, Cyfarwyddwr, Action on Hearing Loss Cymru
