As one of two Senior Technicians you will be a hands on technician working across all areas of our programme.

You will have significant experience within this field and will be responsible for

managing technicians and particularly freelance and casual input in providing support to the cinema, library, studio

theatre and the organisation’s wider programme both in and out of our building

experience - could be

experience of leading a stage operation of a similar size, scope and complexity.

track record in collaborating with large teams of technical staff.

responsibilities

technical services

Support the Head of Stage in managing all areas within the stage and technical department, including but not limited to counterweight flying, scenic carpentry, rigging of temporary motors and trusses and leading crews during fit ups and get-outs.

Support the Head of Lighting & Sound and the Head of Stage in managing all technical teams, both in house staff and recruitment of a pool of freelance technicians.

Lead on setting standards for technical excellence in all areas of work.

Be responsible for maintaining all stage equipment, flying systems and lifting and ensuring their safe use and keeping a log of all maintenance.

Create and keep up to date, detailed risk assessment and method statement documents relating to all Storyhouse’s work.

Management of our offsite storage, ensuring all Storyhouse assets are looked after to the highest standards. You will look after and maintain equipment and teams across all our work and spaces.

Support the Head of Stage with responsibility for the Stages team including but not limited to: touring, produced work, site-specific work and other non-theatrical work (i.e building and installations) as required.

Ensure visiting companies have all the information they need prior to their arrival and that all necessary documents have been received in return. Take the lead as required on the planning and delivery of all staging input into all touring productions.

Be a key part of the stage team preparing and running our home produced season, including working on all home produced shows as required including in the summer season and at Xmas.

Be a key person responsible for safety across all your areas of work including the security and safety of technical, stage and working spaces and the welfare of staff and audiences, especially relating to all electrical equipment.

The Senior Technician (Stage) will work across all our performance spaces in the new building and in the other locations where we deliver work. This includes but is not limited to Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, Moonlight Flicks and touring work.

Working with the Head of Stage to monitor budgets and financial planning systems ensuring effectiveness, efficiency and value for money.

Act as a mentor to a young person, providing guidance, support and shadowing opportunities in line with their personal growth plan.

Comply with all company governance and policies to avoid risk and minimize company liability.

Work as a member of the core building/event management team, taking part in managing events and engagement programmes, and the centre, on a rostered basis.

As part of the Storyhouse core team, you will also take responsibility for the daily monitoring and general upkeep of all spaces and facilities both front of house and back of house.

AppointmentThis is a full-time, permanent contract.

£24,500 per annum.

40 hours per week

This position is not subject to overtime
