HEADMISTRESS’S WELCOME
Bromley High School has been offering
an exceptional education to bright girls
since 1883. In today’s classroom, each girl’s
intellectual potential is challenged and
developed by inspirational teachers whose
concern for your daughter ranges infinitely
beyond her performance in examinations; teachers who have a
capacity to develop a love of learning, a spirit of enquiry and an
independence of mind.
Our girls participate with enthusiasm and commitment in Music,
Drama, Sport and an overabundant range of activities – and where
they have interest or talent or enthusiasm, it is nurtured so that
they learn to excel.
We are immensely proud of the journey that our girls make in the
Senior School from eager and enthusiastic Year 7s to assured and
accomplished Upper Sixth.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bromley High.
ANGEL A DREW
In a green and leafy environment with
space to grow and have fun, our girls
make rapid progress academically
and socially.
They are happy to express intellectual
enthusiasm; committed to activities;
confident to take the lead.

cutting edge.
Our motto, Fides et Opera, defines the qualities which underpin a long
tradition of outstanding academic success. Bromley High girls develop self
belief and a commitment to hard work – and they also have fun.
Intellectual curiosity and independent thinking are nurtured by inspirational
teachers with a passion for their subject. Our classrooms are stimulating

PASTORAL CARE
We believe that the pastoral care of each individual in
the school is of greatest importance and we provide an
outstanding supportive and caring pastoral system. Our
ethos fosters social responsibility and spiritual values:
we encourage every girl to promote the happiness and
well-being of fellow pupils. We work in partnership
with parents, support staff and other professionals to
promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of
the girls in our care.
Our school dog Maya, a short-haired German Pointer, is a fun, warm and
comforting presence in the pastoral team.
We recently held our first ever Positive Parenting conference, a free event
offering a range of practical, hands-on workshops and instructional talks
designed to support parents to raise physically healthy and mentally robust
children. Featuring many guests including keynote speaker Dr Aric Sigman,
parents participated in a range of sessions on topics ranging from relationship
advice, anxiety, digital concerns, resilience and wellbeing – among many
others. A sign of our true commitment to supporting your daughter in all
aspects, not only the academic.

S E N I O R S C H O O L A CREATIVE SPACE
The breadth and richness of the academic curriculum
leaves a vital creative space for inspiration and
imagination to grow. At Bromley High School, creative
expression is encouraged, nurtured and celebrated
As the only all girls’ All-Steinway School in the world, and with our very own
Musician in Residence, music is integral to the rhythm of School life. We
provide a variety of performance opportunities - including our annual London
concert, this year held at the prestigious Cadogan Hall, as well as offering
at least one Music Tour to pupils, recent destinations being Bruges and Los
Angeles.
Bromley High girls love to take to the stage from improvisation and studio
drama directed by the Sixth Form to the huge cast extravaganza of ‘Beauty
and the Beast’. The Dance show is an annual event with girls from Year 7 to
Upper Sixth dazzling with jazz, ballet, tap and contemporary dance.
Students’ art work, photography, ceramics, jewellery and 3D Design are
exhibited in every corridor.
A huge range of clubs, societies and house activities allow every girl to find her
niche - from Zumba to Speech and Drama to Forensics Club and ‘Knit and
Natter.’ If you want to play Rugby, become a reporter or learn to keep bees,
there’s a club for you.

SIXTH FORM
For those girls transferring from Y11, the Sixth Form
offers a seamless transition – new subjects, new
teachers, new freedoms but a familiar personal approach
to supporting and challenging girls to surpass their own
expectations.
Academically ambitious young women joining the Sixth Form from other
schools rapidly feel at home. Bromley High School Sixth Form specialises in
the education of intelligent, talented young women.
A modern Sixth Form Common Room with its own café and garden area and
easy access to our new fitness suite, creates a sophisticated environment in
which to socialise and study; it has the needs and the wishes of girls at its very
heart. You will not be a ‘bolt-on’ here.
An extensive range of A level choices from Dance and Photography to
Computing and Classics allows every girl to specialise in the subjects where
she will excel. The Sixth Form curriculum is extended by BHS Electives -
academic and co-curricular courses which enrich the intellectual and creative
experience of Sixth Form.
Individual guidance encourages girls to make informed and ambitious
university and career choices. Whether you want to be a cardiac surgeon, an
artist, an engineer or an international sportswoman, you will be encouraged
and your successes celebrated. Above all, Sixth Form life will build and
strengthen friendships that will last for life.

LEARNING TO LEAD
From the PGL adventure holiday enjoyed by all Year
7 girls in their first month in the Senior School to
the intrepid Sixth Formers on World Challenge and
Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions, girls are
challenged to work cheerfully in a team and to develop
personal resilience. Our girls are expected to take the
lead, through positions of school responsibility, through
Sports Leadership working with local primary school
children and disabled students, through charitable fund
raising and volunteering, through leading activities with
Junior School pupils.
In Sixth Form, there are so many possibilities to juggle.
Head Girl? Managing Director of a Young Enterprise
Company? Director of the Fashion Show? Leader of a
World Challenge Team? Editor of the School Magazine?
Head of House? Oxbridge? County Hockey? Captain
of Debating? Choreographer of the Dance Show?
Volunteering ? A GDST Scholarship? Captain of
Netball? Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award?
Recent residential trips have included: Iceland, Canada,
San Francisco, Madagascar, Italy, Germany and France.

NETWORKED
A Bromley High education is expansive and outward
looking empowering our girls to take their place in
the world.
Bromley High School is part of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust). The GDST
is the leading network of independent girls’ schools in the UK, with nearly 4,000
staff, and 20,000 pupils and 26 schools. Founded in 1872, the GDST has a
proud history of pioneering innovation in the education of girls, and is the largest
single educator of girls in the UK.
The GDST is an extraordinarily effective network for innovation in teaching and
learning and for the sharing of best practice whether it is excellence in hockey,
Oxbridge Entrance or Career Networking with its alumnae network of 65,000
women.
This year we were delighted to introduce our 6th formers to Rungway – a new
mentoring app which allows GDST sixth formers to connect with GDST alumnae
and staff. At the touch of a button, our 6th form is now able to ask any questions
they may have about study and life after school, university courses and choices,
getting insights into career options, learning about different routes into the
workplace, or asking about internships and work experience. Equally, it could be
used for general queries around CV presentation or interview. Another example
of how Bromley High girls can tap into the vast and supportive GDST network.
In 2015, Bromley High School became the first school in the history of the
GDST to join the HMC. The HMC represents leading schools that are
distinguished by their excellence in pastoral care, co-curricular provision and
classroom teaching.
