GCSF ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGNThe Germantown Community Scholarship Fund (GCSF) embarked on an Endowment Fundraising Campaign in 2006, the 25th anniversary of its founding. As a non-profit organization, GCSF relies on charitable contributions to continue to meet its scholarship goals.

To help spread the word about GCSF’s Endowment Fundraising Campaign, events are held throughout the community to generate additional donations. In February, over $1,600 was raised at the Annual Dinner & Auction for the Endowment Fund, in addition to approximately $42,228 raised specifically for the scholarships given this evening.

With this evening’s scholarships, GCSF will have awarded more than $2.8 million in scholarships to 2,630 Germantown area students pursuing education at colleges, universities or vocational/technical schools.

The Endowment Fund is an investment that helps guarantee that GCSF’s work will continue for future generations. Please consider a contribution to GCSF’s Endowment Campaign as an investment in the future of our youth. In 2004, GCSF also recognized a need to support our Germantown School District teachers in their efforts to help area students develop. Community support and proceeds raised during the U.S. Bank Mud Splash--Run for Funds help to raise money to award Teacher Grant Awards to the following Teacher Grant Award winners:

Mrs. Jennifer Runde, Amy Belle Elementary School: Training courses in Mindfulness, to be shared with the entire school. Mrs. Runde said, “I would like to expand this practice and help teachers become more familiar with the strategies, resources and benefits to ultimately help our students succeed.”

Mr. Ryan Jacobson, MacArthur Elementary School: Flexible seating options for his classroom. Mr. Jacobson stated, “People learn best in different physical environments; therefore, by allowing students to choose which physical environment to learn, they will be more engaged. Students who are more engaged are linked to higher motivation and academic success.”

Just as our theme for this year’s Annual Dinner & Auction was “Gearing up for a Bright Future”, it is our hope to help graduating seniors who either reside in Germantown or attend Germantown High School have a bright future ahead of them. The Germantown Community Scholarship Fund (GCSF) exists to help area students achieve thier goals and live thier dreams. We provide scholarship money to those graduates who will continue their education at a college, university or a vocational/technical school.

The GCSF trust fund was initiated in 1981 by a donation from the Germantown Rotary Club in the amount of $10,000. A $200,000 donation in 1990 from the Germantown Volunteer Fire Company greatly increased the trust fund. The remaining scholarships are funded by donations from annual fundraising events, businesses, service organizations and individuals.

This year’s graduating seniors are fortunate to be the recipients of funds raised at a successful Annual Dinner & Auction, investment income from our Endowment Fund, and the generosity of 40 Named Scholarship Donors enabling GCSF to award $124,000 to these students. We sincerely thank all who contributed or helped in any way to offer these awards.
