North Perspective— Approaching Entry
The intent of this project was to
create a folly or building, primarily for
decoration, around the sport of
volleyball.
To accomplish this task, a two-
dimensional diagram of possible
volleyball spike paths was translated
into a three-dimensional form with
more popular spike paths being
represented by more prominent
forms.
Lastly, a centerpiece, acting as the
focal point of the folly, is made to
represent the netting of a volleyball
court through the detraction of
intertwining bands.

The design was influenced by the disorder and layer of a stack
of books and is reflected in both the façade design and the
offset of interior volumes.

KANSAS CITY RIVER MARKET
FOURTH YEAR | MIXED-USE RETAIL AND RESIDENTIAL | 2014
Situated in the River Market District of down-
town Kansas City, this project aims to create a
seamless blend between commercial and
residential spaces.
Comprised of two separate structures, this
mixed use design creates a small complex
enclosing a central shared courtyard. Through the
use of similar materials and details on the street-
side facades, the project relates to its context
while also creating a new characteristic of concrete
and wood on the interior facades facing the
semi-private courtyard.
The first floor of each structure houses a
retailer while the second and third floors are
reserved for one, two, and three bedroom
apartments

Concrete Jungle
Tasked with redesigning a pivotal portion of
Main Street in downtown Norman, it became
evident that the downtown area lacked any true
sense of walkability. Additionally, the site
actively bisects Norman with a large urban island
of concrete devoid of any notable greenspace.
To remedy this situation, improve the site,
and reconnect the North and South portions of
Main Street, this master plan works to connect
the two halves with abundant green space and a
network of pedestrian pathways that foster
social interaction and a sense of community.
Norman Public Library
FIFTH YEAR | NORMAN PUBLIC LIBRARY | 2015
Situated at the western
end of the new master site
plan, the Norman Public
Library project, along with
its U-shaped form, acts to
terminate and enclose the
central pedestrian pathway
found throughout the city
block to the East.
This pathway is the
most pure representation
of the site concept as it
works to Create a new user
experience detached from
the busyness of Main
Street.

Site Plan—Located to the South of the University Field
In order to appropriately address surrounding
site features, the building design is meant to ad-
dress approach from the Northwest and create
views looking north toward the football field.
During early project development, program
analysis allowed the design team to accurately
assess space arrangements and potential
concerns regarding space adjacencies.
Additionally, analysis allowed us to appropriately
organize spaces with regard to private and public
characteristic.
