ON TRENDLove clothes?! Show off your love for fashion by paying close attention to creating an updated, yet classic look. You want your clothes to reflect who you are, but not completely tie you to ‘fads’....be trendy, not dated! One way to do this is to wear a ‘classic’ color on your nails (no green, blue, orange, or bright white)...think reds, pinks, or even a french manicure! Keep your hair down and flowing in loose curls
for the beginning of our shoot, putting it up towards the end of our shoot! NEVER FORGET ACCESSORIES!!!

I love love love going through magazines or surfing the internet for inspiration...not to copy pictures exactly (with my own senior clients), but to identify what the
common thread is between them....Here are some that I clipped when I took a break from making this magazine.
I googled ‘senior style’ and screen shot the first seven pictures that stood out to me. I then focused on their commonalities:
ACCESSORIESTEXTURE
FLIRTATIOUSSIMPLE, GORGEOUS MAKEUP
LONG, LOOSE WAVES
Do this exercise yourself! Share pictures with me and I’ll keep a file for you! Determine what it is about them that you love and we’ll incorporate those trends
into YOUR shoot! I have many accessories in myever-growing ‘senior closet’!!!
Emma shows off her gorgeous long, flowing curls, simple make-up, and a textured
shirt in an urban setting.
gorgeous!
Bring at LEAST three outfits: Casual, trendy/dressy (well, as dressy as you feel comfortable!!!), and
ACTIVITY/SPORT
Avoid clothing with logos and words. It will distract from your gorgeous face!
If you are wearing a tie (and you don’t know how to tie it) have someone do it for you loosely so that all you have to do is slip it
over your head and tighten it up!
Be comfortable, it will show!
Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers!
Accessorize! If you play baseball, bring your equipment....if you LOVE your pet, arrange to bring your furry friend! They will be
sure we capture a natural smile :)
For models, if your favorite look is the scruffy look, go for it, but avoid the sloppy scruff (on your neck, etc). If you want some
with scruff and some without, bring an electric razor!
hisFOR A SUCCESSFUL SHOOT....here are some tips!
Bring at LEAST three outfits: TRENDY (have fun with it, think magazine shoot!!!), Casual, and
ACTIVITY/SPORT (no sport...bring another trendy!)
It’s so important to wear the right undergarments! Some sheer dresses and tops require nude underwear. Bra straps should
not show, even if it is in style. Sometimes a strapless bra is a must! Avoid clothing with logos and words. It will distract from your beautiful face! Avoid super low-cut tops that show too much skin.
We like to keep it classy!
Be comfortable, it will show! Throw a trendy jacket over a plain outfit and add boots, wedges or heels, VOILA! So CUTE!
Don’t have heels or cool jackets, I do, I usually bring them along.
Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers with COORDINATING ACCESSORIES to save time!
Use fashion magazines, commercials, and PINTERESTfor inspiration!
Trendy jewelry, even oversized! Statement necklaces, bracelets and errings are great!
MORE MAKEUP THAN USUAL....the camera EATS IT off your face! Don’t forget your lips....I also have tons of glosses :)LOVE lashes?! Wear some falsies! They look great!

Remove any unwanted facial hair. Plan any brow waxing 3-4 days prior to your shoot to minimize redness.
Don’t try any dramatic new hairstyles before your senior portraits - you might regret it! If you highlight or color your hair, be sure to have your roots done about two weeks before the shoot. If you are meeting with a hairstylist and/or makeup artist, bring some photos of yourself looking your best and/or photos you find in magazines so that they may mimic the look you’re going for! Suggested stylists that understand senior style are listed at the end of this magazine! THE BEST look in pictures is either straight or long, flowing curls. I have an oversized curling iron if you want to arrange to meet early!
Lips are often overlooked, but believe it or not they can make or break a portrait. Chapped, dry lips are NOT a good look and are difficult to edit. Bring lip gloss to your shoot and re-apply after each outfit change. You can also go dramatic with a bold red for the last outfit! Be bold! Makeup should be applied slightly darker than usual so that it comes through in your portraits. False lashes are gorgeous for model shoots!!!
Drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun a few days before your session. Red skin is not easy to deal with, peeling skin is even worse! I CAN ZAP ACNE WITH MY EDITING SOFTWARE, SO DON’T WORRY ABOUT THAT!!!
Your hands and feet will be in some of your photos, so be sure to have neatly trimmed/manicured nails. Stick to solid, classic colors, or simply a clear gloss or French mani-cure. Avoid neon or crazy colors....no chipped polish!!!
