“Typically we send texts out about 3 or 4 days before a show. The texts serve to reinforce the other parts of our marketing campaign eg event guide, poster, print media. Often people will read about an upcoming event or see a poster and think 'I must go to that' but then forget about it. Where the texts come in is they serve as a figurative tap on the shoulder.
We do see a significant increase in bookings immediately following the sending out of a text.
Also, regular customers seem to like getting texts - it makes them feel appreciated and part of a group. I recall one event a couple of years ago where the event was sold out before the time where we'd normally get around to texting so we never sent out any texts. We actually got complaints from people giving out that we hadn't contacted them.”
