SEMINAR ON

“STRATEGIC THINKING FOR EFFECTIVE DECISION MAKING”

A seminar was conducted on 11th

March 2012, on the eve of the 11th

Foundation Day of

Arya School of Management and Information Technology in the premises of the institute

on the captioned subject. Eminent personalities from the academics and industry were

invited as the esteemed guests to deliberate on the topic. The esteemed guests were

Prof.(Dr.)Pravash Kumar Mishra,Professor in

Psychology,UtkalUniversity,Bhubaneswar,Prof(Dr.)JayantaKumar Parida,Professor in

Commerce,Utkal University,Bhubaneswar and Dr.Isa Mishra,Chief-HR &

Administration,Dhamra Port Company Ltd.The guests delivered valuable facts and

suggestions for the students, faculties and management. The session was really an

interactive one and the students and faculties enjoyed it. The abstract of their

deliberation is summed up as below.

Prof (Dr).Jayanta Kumar Parida highlighted on Yungantar the rousing challenges of

managers of 21st

century. He cited that the young mass are more talented but have no

patience and also emphasized on the attitude. He focused about the change in today’s

scenario where greed has overpowered needs. At the end he described about the

challenges in present situation and said that no business can survive without

transparency.

Prof.(Dr.)Pravash Kumar Mishra,highlighted on the values of life to the young

generation and encouraged students to be a good entrepenuer in life. He shared some

live experiences with the students while describing about Emotional Quotient (EQ) and

Intelligence Quotient (IQ).He mentioned that dreams are good indicators and activities

are not to be rewarded but the performance to be rewarded. He focused about the

present challenges faced by the corporate world, where retention is a major problem

because of high attrition rate. At the end he advised the students to implement three

mantra’s in their daily life that is Awareness, Involvement and Commitment.

Dr.Isa Mishra highlighted on Strategic alliances, planning, thinking and decision making.

Strategy can be in lower level also and it can be done at any age. She described about

the concept of Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Intelligence Quotient(IQ).She advised the

young mass how to maintain and sustain in job. At the end, she cited that Emotional

Intelligence (EI) is the background for strategic thinking and the students should think in

a creative and innovative manner.

Mr.Sovanjeet Mishra, Faculty (HR), delivered the Welcome address. Mr.Manas Ranjan

Pattanaik, Advisor Academics introduced the guest to start the proceedings of the day.

The theme of the topic was presented by Miss Tripti Barik, Faculty (HR). Selected

students also presented on the seminar topic. The Director Dr.Manmmath Kumar Nayak

gave his valuable suggestions to the students. A felicitation ceremony was organized

where the esteemed guests, MFC Alumini’s and the two best students paper presenter

were felicitated. Arya associates and students actively participated in the seminar &

made it a grand success. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by the

Administrative officer Mr.Sanjay Kumar Mishra.
