HSC STANDARD ENGLISH STUDY DAY
Yesterday, HSC Standard English students from Mungindi connected via VC and Adobe Connect with
their classmates at Boggabilla and Collarenebri to participate in a study day with Aurora College in
preparation for the Trial examinations and HSC examinations coming up next week and next term
respectively. The focus of today was Paper One Section One, and Paper Two Section Three. Students
attended sessions run by Jane Sherlock a senior English consultant, and myself, to further extend their
skills and understanding of the rigours they will soon face. It was all about techniques and composition
structure for the students who benefited immensely from the day. Through the sessions, students
looked at how to pull apart unseen texts, took part in an epic technique identification challenge, sat
part of a mock exam, and gained greater insight into the structure of their final HSC module. I think all
involved would agree that despite the brain strain coming from a full day of intensive English we
walked away with a greater understanding, and renewed knowledge of English, and are now sitting in
a much stronger position to give our best in the upcoming exams. These opportunities are invaluable
for our students and efforts of the organisers are greatly appreciated.

RISING STARS
For the past month Primary School students have been learning the noble sport of Cricket. Balls have
been bashed and bouncers have been bowled in preparation for the Moree Big Bash Tournament on
Wednesday 11 September. Mungindi Central School sent two of our finest up and coming cricketers
to a meet and greet with several NSW Big Bash stars at the local KFC in Moree on Tuesday the 3 of
September. Super talented Caleb W, a potential future test player and already practising on testing
teachers, and Mikaela B, a girl who is able to belt the ball better than the boys, had a fantastic day
meeting the NSW cricket stars. They got hats autographed, photos taken and met a new best friend in
Colonel Sanders. Both players can’t wait to play in next weeks tournament.

PRESCHOOL CAPERS
On Monday 26 August the Preschool students had a discussion and planned a day for our Father’s
Day Brunch. The children decided that their fathers and other guests would like to have sausages in
gravy on bread, a fruit platter and water with cordial available.
At 11 am on Friday 30 August, visitors including fathers, grandparents & some mothers arrived. The
children took their guest to activities set out on the tables. The visitors had the opportunity to plan and
build with lego, mobilo, wood construction, marble blocks and plumbing. The children shared their
environment and showed their guests the wheat crop, vegetable patch and the Ag Plot where they
inspected the lambs and chickens. We were focused on looking after our visitors first, so we made
sure they were served lunch before getting ourselves a meal. The children performed the Father's Day
song and gave a Father’s Day present to their dads.

Dear Parents, Family and Friends,
A friendly reminder from your local Paramedics that we are here to assist in many ways. With the
upcoming closure of Barwon Medical Centre and the loss of permanent GPs in our town, we are here
to assist in health care complaints that arise from time to time. These do not have to be emergency
complaints. We can be utilised to check weekly blood pressure or blood sugar levels, complaints of
ongoing injuries and/or illnesses and where appropriate we can assist you to make decisions on when
to check in with the local doctor at the hospital. We can also assist in referrals to appropriate allied
medical services in Moree, Goondiwindi or St George. Our focus to you, the community of Mungindi,
is to ensure your wellness on all levels, and to avoid deterioration or exacerbation of any current
conditions.
It has been noted that our fees can be quite enormous, but please bear in mind that if you are the
holder of the following there will be no charge to you:
1. Centrelink Pension and / or Health Care card
2. Private Health Cover and / or Ambulance Cover
3. You have a QLD address and QLD electricity bill in your name
4. Certain types of presenting complaints will also be free of
charge, this can be discussed on an as needed basis.
To keeping you safe and well,
Erin, Kez, Jacob and Karen.
