Of alumni gave tO SelWYn laSt Year – thank YOu!

has been generously donated by 78 alumni to fund the spenCer fairest law fellowship, whiCh will seCure exCellenCe in the teaChing of law at selwyn in perpetuity.

members of the selwyn College Choir toured the east Coast of the usa, taking their repertoire to ameriCan alumni and friends. it is only thanks to the generous support of alumni that the tour was able to take plaCe.

aCademiC prizes were awarded to students this year in reCognition of outstanding aChievement.

more alumni notified us this year of their intention to remember selwyn in their will, thus beComing members of the 1882 soCiety.

is the perCentage of the 1966 year group who have ever made a gift to selwyn; thanks to the efforts of their year group representative, this perCentage inCreased by 20% over the past year.

selwyn students graduated this year.

students this year have needed hardship funds to help them through unforeseen CirCumstanCes, suCh as family Crisis or bereavement, whiCh have put unexpeCted pressure on their finanCial situation. thanks to these funds, they have not had to Curtail their studies.

brand new viii was generously donated to the boat Club; the new selwyn women’s boat, “John farr”, was reCeived with great exCitement.

monkeys were visited by selwyn alumni and their families on a trip to monkey world in dorset.

was distributed in sports bursaries to help our sportsmen and women Cover the Costs of equipment, Competition fees, CoaChing, kit and training Camps, empowering them to take their Chosen sport to the highest levels, with many Competing nationally and internationally.

alumni donated during deCember’s telephone Campaign having spoken to one of our 14 student Callers.

alumni met with the master and development direCtor at a speCial reCeption in hong kong, where it was delightful to CatCh up with some of the alumni living in the far east.

has been donated so far by the 1993 year group in memory of terry dixon (se 1993) for a travel bursary fund.

“If it wasn’t for the bursary I probably wouldn’t be here – my mum can’t afford to pay for Uni and even the full student finance maintenance loan doesn’t cover all the costs of food and accommodation. The bursary makes such a difference to me; it means I don’t have to worry about money and debt day to day and that I don’t have to

miss out on things I otherwise would have done. It has meant that I am able to enjoy my time here to the fullest, and my mum and I haven’t had to constantly worry about finances. I really am so

thankful to the people who donate to make the bursary possible.”
