Question 1. Where did money come from and why was it created?

Question 2. How does money in the money system actually work?

So, how did you do? Did you know the answers? Do you feel good about your answers? Most of us have never considered these two questions which means that we're trying tofinancial success inside of a system that we don't understand and now here's an even moreimportant question.

Do you feel confident enough in your knowledge about money and how it works that youknow you can get money when you want, that you can invest it wisely and that you canaccumulate enough of it that you'll be comfortable and secure and enjoy the lifestyle youwant for the rest of your life?

If you didn't answer yes to that one and you don't feel confident in your knowledge of moneyand how it works, then what you're going to learn from me in this series of videos, reports, and exercises will most likely change your financial future in very important, positive ways.

So, let's start with an important discovery that can give you far more power with money, andthat is where money came from.

So, let's first talk about where money came from because only by understanding how andwhy we came to use money, can we learn to master money. Back when we all lived inprimitive tribes, life was a little bit more interesting. We spent most of our time just trying tosurvive. Work back in those days consisted of building, maintaining shelter, hunting and juststaying alive.

Very recently, in our overall evolutions, we humans came up with some ingenious insightsand inventions that give us big advantages. Insights like how to grow our own foods, howto build homes that last tens or hundreds of years, and other ingenious ways of protectingourselves from the elements that threatened our lives.

For the first time, this allowed us to get ahead of the game and store up and control things, like food, tools, jewelry, other valuable possessions, and that changed everything. As wegot more and more ahead, we could've done one of two basic things.

The first thing we could've done is we could've just taxed the high productivity people thathad a surplus, and given it to the rest of the people in the tribe, who could then sit aroundand just do nothing.

The second option we had is we can each go learn new, valuable skills with our free timeand learn to create new, valuable products, and we could create a system to trade oneproduct or skill for another.

So we've obviously chosen path two for the most part. We went out and learned new skillsto create value, and the world became a richer place to live. But then something happened. Trade itself became weird. For example, if I have a pig and three fishing nets and I wantto trade you for your goat and your spear, but you don't want a pig or nets, then we have aproblem.

In that case, I need to find out what you do want, then see if I can find someone who hasthat stuff and go talk them into trading for what I've got, and then find you after I do and

hope the trade is still available and you've got your goat and your spear to trade me. Veryinefficient. This leads us to the birth of money. We needed something that could allow us tosell anything we had and then buy anything we wanted without having to do complex tradesand find people who wanted exactly what we had to sell.

We needed a standardized unit of trade. Something simple, portable and valuable. Auniversal currency that anyone could use or accept to trade for or purchase anything to payoff debts or to lend. Originally, currency or money was in the form of rare or special items. A particular type of seashell that was rare or attractive. A type of carved stone that requiredlots of work to create.

Now, with the universal currency like shells, I could sell my pig and my nets for shells, andthen I could trade the shells directly for the goat and the spear that I wanted. Awesome. Then, when we got good at farming and growing our own food, we started using things likegrains and rice for our universal currency. This was nice, because if we couldn't spend it,we could always eat it. Eventually, we stumbled upon what many consider to be the ultimatemoney or currency: gold.

Gold was a great currency because it was rare, it was easy to carry around, it didn't corrode, and it can be used for all kinds of things other than currency, which were very valuable. Ifyou didn't want to use your gold to buy things, you could make jewelry, you could make atooth filling, you could use it in art, etc.

Silver is another great currency for a lot of the same reasons. In modern times, bothelements are very valuable for many important processes in our lives. They're usedthroughout technology, science, medicine and others because they're highly conductive, they resist corrosion, etc. The point here is that the money itself used to be worthsomething. There's a special name for this, by the way.

When the currency has intrinsic value and can actually be used for something. It's callcommodity money, and the thing to remember about this commodity money, again, is thatcommodity money has value in and of itself. If you have grain that no one wants, you caneat it. If you have gold that no one wants, you can make jewelry or fillings, or even nowcomputer chips from it. This leads us to money's first dirty secret. It now has a hole in itsown bucket. Now that you understand just a little bit more about where money came fromand how it got to its current form, let's talk about money's first dirty secret.

Here it is. Money has a hole in its own bucket and it actually loses itself. Okay, wait aminute, it has a hole in its what and it loses itself. Let me explain this to you. As we justlearned, gold and silver money, or commodity money, has intrinsic value, meaning that ithad a high value outside of just being currency or trade value, and the only way to inflate thecurrency was to counterfeit it, make fake gold or silver, or dilute it by putting some metal inthat wasn't gold or silver to make even more money.

Now the next step in the evolution of money, after creating commodity money, was to createsomething that wasn't a commodity itself, but that acted as a promise of the commodity or

the real thing. This next step was to create paper notes that were backed up by gold orsilver and that could be traded in for either gold or silver on demand.

In fact, if you live in the United States, you may have seen an old bank note that says goldcertificate or silver certificate on it. This type of money is called representative money, because the paper note you hold in your hand is just a representative of the real value, inthe form of say gold or silver, that you can trade it for any time you'd like. The note

That you had represented real physical gold or silver that was in a vault somewhere. Nowlets talk about the step that changed everything.

The next step in this process, in a very controversial step, was to disconnect the paper notesfrom the gold or silver and from the real world completely, and print paper notes to use formoney, but this time without anything physical to back them up. That's right, nothing toconnect them to the real world, just a piece of paper with a promise. This type of moneyis called fiat money or fiat currency, and it's created when a government declares that theprinted pieces of paper are legal tender to pay with and be paid with.

The word fiat, by the way, comes from a Latin term and it means let it be done. Agovernment says let it be done, and now paper is money. By the way, most countries nowrun on fiat currency, and we've been disconnected from the gold or silver standard, andthere's no connection to the real world. Then the final great leap took place from the escapefrom the physical world all together, completely, and even money, the bills became numberson a computer screen.

Banks now literally create money out of thin air, they lend it out without it ever becomingreal in the form of bills or coins or gold or anything else. As you've just learned, our papermoney and our account balance numbers on our computer screens, they aren't backed upby anything real. There's nothing backing them except for promises. Why is this a problem?

The first hole that money has in it's own bucket is called inflation, you've probably heard ofit. Inflation is an interesting phenomenon. One definition of inflation that it is the delusionof a currency, which by the way is very common for banks and governments to do. Theydilute the value of paper money and the numbers on our screen by simply printing more ordeclaring more. This is like taking some gold coins, melting them down, and then addingsome other metal into it to make even more coins, even though you're putting metal in thatisn't gold, then using them as if they were made of real gold.

I'm not going to go off on a rant about the government and banks and so forth, that'sanother conversation for a different day. What I do want to point out to you is that money isconstantly being diluted. The second hole that money has in it's bucket, which you probablyhaven't heard about, is that this non real money, like paper money or numbers on yourscreen telling you how much is in your account, these are very confusing to the human mind.

It causes us to make all kinds of different mistakes that are very damaging to our financiallives. In a future report and video we're going to go into this in a more detailed way, but for

now, lets just remember this. When you use it, you lose it. When you use money you losemoney. These are only a couple of the many ways that money loses itself over time.

My Course self-made wealth. Well, after studying the strategies and methods of many selfmade millionaires and billionaires, and building many multi-million dollar businesses, I'vediscovered that these rich people who are very successful, are doing something that mostpeople will never, ever even consider.

Let me tell you a geeky story to explain. If you're a Star Trek fan like I am, and yes that Iadmit that I am complete geek here, you might remember the training simulation they talkedabout called the Kobayashi Maru scenario. Now, it's not important if you saw the movieor not, but if you did, you may remember how Captain is Kirk is famous, because he's theonly one that won the game. That ever escaped alive, and ever won the Kobayashi Maruscenario. Now, if you also remember, in the movie the game was programmed so that it wasimpossible to win.

No matter what you did, you always lost. Now, the point of the game was to test a potentialcapital to see how they would handle in no win situations. They had made you lose, sothey would just test you to see how you handled it. Now, if you remember what CaptainKirk did to win the game it was, well, pretty creative to say the least. He simply went in andreprogrammed the game, so that he could win. He thought outside the box. Instead of tryingto win from within the game that other people had set up for him, he actually went in andcreated his own game.

You need to learn the game, and then set up your own game so you can win. What youmay have never considered is this. There's a way to win this game, but it involves you goingbeyond thinking about just money. And, in the next reports and videos that I'm going torelease, I'm going to teach you more about how to set up a financial and money game youcan win, so you do just that. So, keep these wealth tips in mind.

First, remember that money has a whole in its own bucket. Inflation makes the money wehave worth less and less over time. Fee, taxes, tolls, and other little hidden bucket holescost us a lot of our value when we use money. Keeping our value in money actually causesa decrease automatically.

Next, remember that money is not an asset for most people. You might want to write thisone down on a little sticky note, and put it next to your desk, and look at it a few times a day.Money is not an asset for most people. If you are a professional money trader, okay you'rethe exception, but for most of us money is not an asset.

And, the more we try to get money, the more value we lose without realizing it. By theway, when you use your credit cards and you borrow money, you actually multiple theseproblems, which

Google announced an extension that enables mobile payments for Android phone users.

The extension bridges the divide between merchandise being purchased in a physicalstore, market, or expo and the customer's desire to pay via their Android phone. Thoughphysical goods are bought on the spot, the payment is made via Google Checkout using themerchant's Store Gadget and the customer's Android phone.

Here's how it works: The merchant enters the items that the customer wants to purchaseinto their laptop or other computer. This creates a Google Checkout shopping cart for them. The extension then generates a QR code which the customer scans with their Androiddevice. Scanning the code on Android takes the customer to the Google Checkout page fortheir transaction, where they then complete their purchase.

It's important to note that, as with PayPal's mobile payment solutions and NFC-basedsolutions discussed in my previous blog posts, the user is never required to provide theircredit card or bank information directly to the merchant to complete the transaction. Howthey fund the purchase in their Google Checkout account is between them and Google. Thisextra layer of security differentiates those solutions from other competitors such as Square(and that's a very good thing as Square has had some security concerns in recent months). Unlike PayPal's solutions, however, Google's QR-coded purchases are limited to Androidphones and presumably other QR-enabled devices such as some Nokia mobiles.

Will a QR based approach such as Google's win out? Or is their process too cumbersomefor merchants and consumers? Will PayPal's multi-pronged, lowest common denominatorup through smartphone native applications approach prove the winner instead? Let meknow what you think by leaving a comment below.
