_SUMMARY

HANXIONG LIU received MASTER OF ARCHI-TECTURE II, POST-PROFESSIONAL DEGREE FROM UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES [UCLA], Craig Hodgetts Suprastudio [Hyperloop] after he finished BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE DEGREE [NAAB ACCRED-ITED] FROM SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY [SP_ARC] in Atlanta, GA.

He, as an intern, worked for CRANG BOAKE ACBI GROUP, BEIJING in 2011 SUMMER,participated Shandong Dongping Townhouse design, Hunan Qingshuihu Villa design and Shenyang Naqu High-rise residential project. In 2013-2014, he worked at RAFAEL A. GARCIA ARCHITECTS as an associate architect in Atlanta, GA, participated VA Medical Center parking deck in San Juan, Puerto Rico; CYAN at 3380 Peachtree Road in Atlanta, GA; Clark Atlanta University Animal Research Facility in Atlanta, GA; Oral & Facial Surgery Associates in Braselton, GA; ASPIRE at 2400 Charlotte Avenue in Nashville, TN and AZURE on the park in Atlanta, GA.

His recent work in [Hyperloop] focused on creating practical solutions to the many diverse aspects of the Hyperloop Concept - a high-speed tube transportation system- and to do. The strategic design proposals by statistic researching, analysing and design will be produced in the findings of two book publica-tions in 2015, SUPRASTUDIO: HYPERLOOP Volume I and SUPRASTUDIO: HYPERLOOP Volume II.

As a professional designer, he has a sharp interest in research based schematic design, 3D modeling and hybrid design [Architecture + X]. USING AUTOCAD, REVIT, RHINO, GRASS-HOPPER, MAYA, AFTER EFFECTS, ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR, AND UNITY 3D SKILLFULLY.Additionally, his skills also include excellent illustration skills, LEED sustainable design strategies, practices, and techniques; passive heating and cooling techniques, parametric design, game design, filming and photography.

URBAN INCUBATOR

Flow generates space, space drives flow.

In this design, the relationship between flow and space is my issue. In my perspective, the flow of space generates space. Continental plates drift divided conti-nents; crowd gathering created city. Flow defines growth speed, thus precipitating the space changes. The formation of space also influenced the direction of flow and its effects.

In this project, the flows of varying context around the site contribute to the exploration of space and design concepts.

ATLANTA CULINARY SCHOOL

As big as an urban accelerator, as small as a cuisine.

ACAS (Atlanta Cuisine Art School) is a proposed project located in Mid-town Atlanta.

Most of the building forms around ACAS are rectangular blocks with courtyards inside. While I’m design-ing, I do not want to break the “rule” of building in this context but let my design integrated and reflect the school’s unique and innovative spirit. And also it has another role to be an urban infrastructure and provide a place for community activities.

Based on the reflection of diversity of Atlanta Midtown, I established two behavior models by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

By analyzing the behavioral and psychological need of different groups, I found the distinctive need of culinary art school and public systematically.

HYPERLOOP

Teammates: Milagro Jassmine Carpio, Kai Qian, Shuyan Zhang, Chen Danfeng

The design of the Hyperloop station design involves considering the design of the capsule. Step one was choosing how one would enter the capsule. We chose cartridge. Then we engineered a new spiral mecha-nism that would be able to dispatch capsules and cartridges in and out fluidly. Second, was having modular platforms to provide easy access for dropoff and pickup. Third, we thought of introducing a first class capsules for the business man, or any vip guest. Thus the seating being more private, spacious, comfort, and enter-tainment.

CYAN AT 3380 PEACHTREE ROADATLANTA, GA

under construction...

A 329 unit, 23 story luxury rental apartment building designed to fit a prosperous, dynamic urban environ-ment on Peachtree Road, the princi-pal Avenue of Atlanta, in the presti-gious Buckhead neighborhood. This project features studio, one, two, and three bedroom units and includes a seven story parking deck, pool amen-ity deck, amenity pavilion, and roof terrace overlooking Peachtree Road.

This highly visible building is designed to provide a vantage point to view the beautiful surrounding skyline, while also contributing to it. The building’s orientation on the site engages access to public transit, while also providing unique spaces to enjoy activities such as the Peachtree Road Race and July 4th Fireworks. This building is designed to LEED certification standards.

under construction...

This five story “parking deck wrap” multifamily project has been designed by our firm to include 280 units in various unit sizes and types. The project includes extensive, multi-story amenities in a phased design comprising two wood-framed residential buildings and one precast concrete parking deck. The parking deck will include spaces to be shared with an existing adjacent office occu-pancy. Its location near Vanderbilt University and the Medical Center offers significant skyline views, which are being featured in our design.

PROJECTIONMAPPING

Teammates: Chun-Hua Chiu, Dan-feng Chen, Yifan Zhang

The visual compact of projection mapping is impressive and it could gives people an illusion of the works which can not come to reality.

In this project, it is focused on lighting system in the capsule. we used Maya and projected image of capsule on our mock-up and illustrated the time sequence from departure to arrival in a hyperloop travel.
