The renowned magazine Traveller Condé Nast chose Hvar as one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world.
A legend tells that one day a pagan god in charge of distributing the world's mountains, rivers, lakes and forests, stumbling as he tried to jump over the sea, lost a few crumbs of rocks from his basket, some sand and bits of vegetation that fell into the sea. When he went to pick them up he found them to be so beautiful and harmonius, he prefered to leave them where they were. The mentioned sea was the Adriatic and the crumbs of rocks became the croatian islands.

Thanks to its mild climate even in the winter, the beauty of the town and the natural environment, Hvar is a renowned and well equipped resort. The town of Hvar is the main town on the island and also a busy marina.In the very centre the most important monuments are: the Arsenal, the Renaissance loggia, the Theatre dating back to 1612, the Franciscan monastery with a lovely version of the famous painting “The Last Supper”, the Cathedral and the Bishop’s palace. Very striking is the Spanish fortress as well as the Napoleon's fort built by Napoleon Bonaparte. The Spanish fortress offers a breathtaking wiew of the town and the islands Pakleni, which are placed directly in the front of the town bay.
