The campaign was held at the Ndlovu Miracle Theatre in Elandsdoorn, Dennilton where hundreds of residents led by the Bolshe- viks Party of South Africa (BPSA) attended. The Zuma Must Fall Campaign was one of several demonstrations that was seen around the country, to coincide with Freedom Day. Demonstrators were calling for the ANC to remove President Jacob Zuma from office. Anti-Zuma sentiment gained momentum after Zuma sacked Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene in December, and reached a new high when the country’s highest court found Zuma breached the Constitution in his handling of the Nkandla saga. The court also found Parliament failed in its constitutional obligation to hold the executive accountable for the overspending at Nkandla. Two years ago Public Protector Thuli Madonsela released a report stating the presi- dent benefited unduly from the non-security Zuma Must Fall Campaign in Moutse features which formed part of the R246 million project to upgrade his private home in Kwa- Zulu Natal. Madonsela directed him to repay a reasonable portion of the money spent on the project, but he didn’t comply. According to BPSA leader and Zuma Must Fall Limpopo convener, Seun Mogotji, said the aim was not to push any political agenda. “We are disgruntled South Africans as we feel that South Africa, the constitution, the people and the country must come first,”he said. Mogotji said they were aiming to give Moutse residents an opportunity to raise their voices in contribution of the removal of Zuma. He said the nation has lost trust and has been de- stroyed little by little by the President. He added that Zuma is no longer fit to be in the presidential position. “Zuma ruined the coun- try and he is now destroying the rainbow na- tion. The nation has lost hope in the current government as a result of one person’s arro- gance, selfishness and greed. The court has ruled and Zuma must go. It is either he is being removed by the ANC or he resigns,” said Mogotji. He said the good political system of the country is now destroyed as ANC MPs were protecting Zuma all along. “As Bolsheviks Party of South Africa, our opinion is that the President’s removal must be taken as a matter of urgency because he failed to respect the constitution of the country. We want our beloved country back. We demand that all those, who defended Zuma, to pay and be removed from office too as they also failed to respect the constitution of the country,” concluded Mogotji.

The municipality promised to respond within 14 working days. But it has been overa month and workers are still waiting for the municipality to respond. They become fed up, downingtools and took it to the streets. Rubbish bins were emptied on the streets in Groblersdal Town.Public order police were deployed in numbers to calm the angry workers but they continuedsinging and chanting that the municipality is failing to take their demands into consideration.Rubber bullets starting flying when police tried to calm down the demonstrators. Some were seenrunning in different directions while others continued throwing rubbish on the busy Groblersdalmain streets. The security was strengthened where bouncers were deployed in the Elias Motsaoledi municipaloffices to protect the management from the angry workers. The municipality’s entrance and doorswere also closed where security personnel were allowing only authorized people to enter themunicipality. According to unconfirmed reports, shoppers and hawkers were also shot andwounded during the strike and some ending up admitted in hospital. “We had an agreement withElias Motsaoledi Mayor Cllr Julia Mathebe that the municipality will respond to our memorandumwithin the specified date but they failed,” SAMWU Regional Secretary Patrick Aphane told theDispatch. Aphane said the municipality has also deducted money from salaries of workers whotook part in the march that took place on 4 March. “We do not know exactly how should thathappen as the march was applied for and approved. We took only two hours to hand over thememorandum where workers continued with their daily duties,” he said. He said they had meetingswith the municipality on Monday 25 April but failed to reach resolutions. "Three key issues wereraised during our meeting with the municipality that they must immediately pay the part of thesalaries that was deducted from our members when taking part in the march that took place on4 March, that they withdraw bouncers from the municipality and that they must withdraw thecontrol register of workers who are continuing with their duties while other workers embark onstrike. The municipality only withdrew bouncers but failed to apply the other two demands. Thisled us to continue with the strike until we are taken seriously,” he said.Elias Motsaoaledi Local Municipality Spokesperson Mbusi Mahlangu told the Dispatch themunicipality delayed to respond to the memorandum as there are some issues taken to CCMAfor arbitration. He said workers did not wait for the CCMA to come with a specified date in orderto resolve the matter between the two parties. He added that the municipality deducted moneyfrom workers’ salaries to practice the no work no pay rule. “The march that was held on 4 Marchwas not approved, which is why the municipality deducted money from salaries of workers whowere participating that day.The register control is been used as by SALGA laws to assist the municipality to identifyemployees who are participating in an unprotected strike,” he said.

Fortuner launched inGroblersdal

The all-new Toyota Fortuner has finally madeits much-anticipated global debut. It clearlyeschews the previous one’s utilitarian pres-ence in favour of more overt, luxurious stylingbut in doing so Toyota says it hasn’t lost itsstrength and genuine all-terrain capability.According to Calvyn Hamman, Senior VicePresident of Sales and Marketing for ToyotaSouth Africa Motors, the brief was simple:‘Design a Fortuner than can compete in termsof style and aesthetics while staying true to itsauthentic SUV characteristics and genuine4WD performance.’ As far as styling goes, thenew Fortuner was created with a new designlanguage Toyota likes to call – ‘Solid Fluidity’.Toyota wanted to give the Fortuner widenessthrough the high body axis, and bulging wheelarch flares, as well as the chunky trapezoidalfront bumper; yet, without sacrificing sophis-tication in the detailing, there are the slenderheadlight clusters that cut into the front fend-ers, the chiselled and slanted chrome grille, andthe sleek rear combination lamps that blendwith the complex surfaces of the rear body.18-inch wheels with 265/60 rubber (standardfitment in Thailand) fill the arches well, and thetall beltline kinks up towards the tall rear, withblack C-pillars giving the all-new SUV a ‘float-ing roof’ look. The interior boasts with ample cabin space andis complemented by superb convenience fea-tures. Innovative touches (model dependent)include a tablet-like multi-media touchscreenthat allows easy operation of functions, a SmartEntry & Start system and second-row seatswith one-touch operation for ease of folding. There are no fewer than 15 storage areas in thenew Fortuner. On the ride and handling front,

2016 Toyota Fortuner launchedToyota says the Fortuner’s all-new ladder-frame chassis is bolstered by tougher crossmembers, side rails and suspension towers.More importantly, however, is the fact that thesuspension is made up of a redesigned doublewishbone (front) and a four-link suspension(rear) combination with coil springs for

optimised comfort. As with the new Hilux, thereare newly developed 2.4-litre (112kW/400Nm)and 2.8-litre (132kW/450Nm) diesels, supple-menting the petrol variants. Low-down torquehas been increased, as has improved fuel effi-ciency, cruising range and reduced enginenoise. Propping up these efficient powerplants

are the newly developed six-speed automatictransmissions with more steps and optimisedgear ratios to maximise engine performance. Aswith new Hilux, stick-shift Fortuners areequipped with the Intelligent Manual Trans-mission system (i-MT) supporting smoothshifting with rev matching technology.
