What is expository writing?

✤ An exposition text is used by writers to persuade others of their ideas.

✤ It is also used to criticise and review ideas, whilst giving your own opinion.

✤ Therefore, your choice of words has to persuade the reader effectively.

The structure

✤ In order to effectively persuade your reader, you need to have a clear structure and follow a logical sequence.

✤ It is always a good idea to have a plan, with headings and bullet points before you start writing. This will help you order your thoughts in a clear and logical way.

✤ This is an example of a good structure to follow.

✤ Each part of this structure plays a role in helping to persuade the reader of why you hold that opinion.
