¡Seguimos Bailando!
¡Los Muertos Siguen Bailando!For the past 7 years, HWNT Fort Worth Chapter has planned the signature gala, ¡Hasta Los Muertos Bailan! which translates to Even the Dead Dance! This themed event celebrates the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday and is one of Fort Worth’s most unique and exciting events. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our event but the need to support our programs still endures. The objective of the gala is to raise funds for our Latina in Progress Program (LIP) and HWNT operations and development programs. In lieu of the gala, we are kicking off our ¡Seguimos Bailando! campaign which translates to We Continue to Dance. Despite this pandemic we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for. We hope we can count on your support with our campaign to raise the funds needed. Your contribution will allow us to continue to provide great programs, member support, and resources and scholarships for Latinas In Progress program.
Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) is a state-wide organization of individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to promoting the participation of women in public, corporate, and civic arenas. HWNT seeks to advance the educational, cultural, social, legal, and economic well-being of all women through a broader awareness of their role in society, business, and family. Members strive to celebrate the positive image and values of the Hispanic culture.
At nearly 150 members, HWNT Fort Worth is the largest chapter in Texas. We are a multi-cultural mix of men and women of all ages. Through networking and professional development, we help one another reach goals, promote our businesses, and offer support and resources to elevate our Hispanic community.
HWNT Fort Worth’s esteemed education series, Latinas in Progress© (LIP©), collaborates with area universities and colleges to motivate graduating high school Latinas towards achieving their dreams of a college degree. The program not only acclimates participants and their parents with the rigors of college, but equips them with vital tools that will enrich their personal lives. They engage in workshops such as College 101, Writing Skills, Life Skills, Assertiveness Training, and Civic Engagement. In the process, they develop networks, social skills, confidence, and increase their community involvement by volunteering at community
events. The program culminates in scholarship opportunities for students in the program. Over half of the funds we raise go directly to LIP Scholarships. From 2007 to 2020, we have supported almost 1000 LIP students and awarded 376 scholarships worth $3.9 million.
