SEEKONK HIGH SCHOOL BAND TRIP TO DISNEY RULES AND INFORMATION

1. All local laws and school rules will be applied and strictly enforced. The use or possession of any form of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted. Students involved in any infraction of this rule will have parents notified and will be immediately flown or bussed home at parent’s expense. Responsibility for a student under these circumstances becomes the parents, once the student leaves Orlando Airport. Exclusive discipline in school will also be applied, which could include suspension from future band activities, trips and school. 2. There will be no smoking allowed by any student. Any student caught smoking will spend the next day with a chaperone. 3. No Medication is to be used except with prior arrangement with music faculty and chaperons. 4. Curfews of 12:00 p.m. will be observed. All doors are to remain open until bed checks at 12:00 p.m. Lights out at 12:30. Depending on specific circumstances, curfew may be changed by chaperones. 5. All students must attend all scheduled events, activities, and breakfasts. No one will be left behind. 6. While in all parks, a buddy system of not less than two will be adopted. Medical/Counselor personnel will check into First Aid every hour. All staff and chaperones will carry cell phones for communication. 7. Leaving hotel grounds at any time is strictly prohibited. Hotel grounds are a boundary. No unauthorized “sight-seeing or shopping”. Hotel resort features include a gift shop, game room, two pools, and a restaurant. Please be considerate of other people who are paying for a pleasant stay at our hotel. Any nonsense, horseplay, or interruption during the night by security guards will result in being assigned to a chaperone the next day and a break-up of that room. 8. Absolutely no room changes in Florida, except by staff upon recommendation by a chaperone. People not associated with our music department are not permitted in rooms. 9. Proper behavior will be expected at all times, remember, your behavior reflects on the organization, school, and community. 10. The student-staff/chaperone ratio is 1 staff/chaperone per 8 students 11. Students will need Concert Band dress (Black pants, long sleeve white shirt, black socks and black shoes). 12. Casual wear – for travel and sightseeing (in good taste). Please wear a reliable watch. You will be held accountable for meeting times. Note: Orlando can be unusually cool – Jackets are advisable. Bathing suites are needed, no towels. BRING AND USE SUNSCREEN.

13. Luggage and equipment: a. One piece of large luggage, which will be checked on the flight. It must be less than 50 pounds. Any overweight bag fees will be the responsibility of the student. Flutes, clarinets and oboe should be put in carry-on bag. You could check in your luggage, but for security and possible damage it is not recommended. b. All other instruments will need to be checked. You must use a reliable, hard case. It is recommended that you strap your case to avoid accidental opening during transport. DO NOT LOCK ANY CHECKED LUGGAGE. b. One carry-on for plane. (Trumpets using gig bags should carry instrument on—it will be put under seat). c. All luggage, including instruments and carry-on, must have luggage tags. We will give you color coded ties for easy identification of your luggage. d. Instrument accessories (reeds, valve oil, sticks, etc.) Note: Clean and polish all cymbals and brass instruments. Note: students are responsible for care of school equipment and instruments 14. Spending money will be needed for lunches. $15 - $25/day should be sufficient for eating. Students who have money raised for the trip in their student accounts, should withdraw with yellow voucher prior to the trip. 15. All telephone calls to your home or others must be made from cell phones, calling cards, collect, or public pay phones and NOT from your hotel room. All phones will be shut off after midnight. It is very confusing to divide up hotel bills that include home calls and room service, etc. Room service is very expensive in hotels and should be completely avoided. 16. To contact student, the hotel address and phone number are as follows: Disney's All-Star Music Resort 1801 West Buena Vista Drive

Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 Phone: 407-939-6000 Mr. Smialek Cell Phone in Florida 774-319-9470

17. Thank you parents for your cooperation and support in what we believe will be a very positive, educational, musically rewarding and fun experience for students. 18. A parent and the student should sign this form with the rules and regulations along with the medical release form. Forms must be returned to Mr. Smialek by March 6, 2009. SEE LAST PAGE Rule of Thumb: When in doubt – don’t assume – Ask. You will be held accountable for all your actions, relative to the above rules. Use common sense. Disney is on the cutting edge of security technology - DO NOT SHOPLIFT.

YOU WILL BE DETAINED AND PROSECUTED (AND SENT HOME).

Lights out at 12:30 - QUIET!! 5. You are responsible for getting your students up every morning. This could be your greatest challenge!!

6. Chaperones may be asked to help with check-in at First Aid at certain times during the day. They have an automated phone-in service. If you are paged, please proceed to the First Aid Station. 7. Make sure your students are on the buses or any form of transportation at every event. You should arrange check-in times at various times of the day to account for everyone in your group. 8. Make sure your students have everything they came with before we leave the hotel. Room captains will give their keys to you. Captains must inspect rooms for damage and articles left behind and report this to you. You can then clear that room for checkout at the main desk.

9. Allow students to enjoy the experiences this trip has to offer. Be pleasant, courteous, and give them the respect they deserve, and they will treat you the same. If there are any problems, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Smialek.

10. Have a great time and enjoy the students!
