But how oſten do we see the same needs posted by the same people and we just keep scrolling past? Ive been on both sides of the spectrum as the coordinator and the volunteer many mes. I can tell you as the coordinator it makes you feel as though the need you have is unimportant or boringwhen you cant get anyone to volunteer to help. As a group, we have become content with sing back and watching the same people take all of the jobs that need to be done. Its so easy to pass and say Oh, Ill do it next me they need someoneor Ill wait and see if they are really desperate in a few days”. Why wait? Why arent jobs and tasks being filled the moment a need is menoned? We all have talents in many various areas. What are you good at? Where do you feel needed? Where can you venture out and try something new? In this COVID year we have become complacent to sit at home and distance from everyone but the Kingdom here on earth doesnt stop. The need to take care of our earthly church family is sll ever present. This year many opportunies to help in our own church family have gone unfilled. As we approach a new year I urge each of you to think about your talents and how they can be best used in His service. The Art of Volunteering

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them. Romans 12:4-6

There is always a job to be done. As humans, as members of a family, both spiritual and earthly, there are roles and obligations that must be filled. Planning events, sponsoring the youth retreat, teaching Sunday school and tending babies in the nursery, visiting the shut-ins and cooking for new moms home with babies. The job list is endless.

In the world we live in today, it is so easy to jump on to social media or email and post the need we have. But how often do we see the same needs posted by the same people and we just keep scrolling past? I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum as the coordinator and the volunteer many times. I can tell you as the coordinator it makes you feel as though the need you have is unimportant or “boring” when you can’t get anyone to volunteer to help. As a group, we have become content with sitting back and watching the same people take all of the jobs that need to be done. It’s so easy to pass and say “Oh, I’ll do it next time they need someone” or “I’ll wait and see if they are really desperate in a few days”. Why wait? Why aren’t jobs and tasks being filled the moment a need is mentioned?

We all have talents in many various areas. What are you good at? Where do you feel needed? Where can you venture out and try something new?

In this COVID year we have become complacent to sit at home and distance from everyone but the Kingdom here on earth doesn’t stop. The need to take care of our earthly church family is still ever present. This year many opportunities to help in our own church family have gone unfilled.
