Seeking aspiring chartered accountants The City of Tshwane is implementing its first-ever chartered accountant (CA) internship training programme specifically for the public sector. The programme will run over three years, and it intends to accommodate ten incumbents to start in October 2017. The programme aims to attract African males and females, Indian males and females, coloured males and females, white females, and people with disabilities. Interested applicants must be South African citizens and have a BCom (honours) degree in Accounting and a Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA), or have a BCom degree accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and be currently registered for a CTA. If you are goal-driven, an inherent team player, passionate about public service, have an inquisitive mind, and hold a top-class academic record, you are the person we are looking for. The programme offers a unique opportunity to aspiring chartered accountant trainees to undergo professional training in a vibrant and enlightening public-sector environment. The elective technical competencies and key exposure areas in terms of the City of Tshwane’s CA training programme include financial management, and the programme will provide exposure to the City’s treasury, budget, financial reporting, asset management, internal audit, and revenue management, as well as procurement and supply chain management.
